Benning in his presser says he's not negotiating with Hughes/Pettersson before the deadline, yet is trying to re-sign Tanner Pearson even though they have no cap space because of all the garbage contracts he's given out. I can't for the life of me understand how that guy ever became an NHL gm, let alone still has a job.
I'm not saying I agree with his priorities, but EP and Hughes are RFA, and you can hardball them/drag them along/squeeze them once other pieces are in place. Pearson is UFA and you need to butter him up well before free agency.

Caps are a team that terrifies me. With their physicality and mix of offense.

Who's their GM?

How is their stick checking? Seriously, who ever comes out of the East should be battered and bruised while who ever comes out of the North should be healthy and fresh we hope.

Bruins top line is still the best in the league. point blank.

They got insane chemistry. They practically know where the other guy is at all times. ITs telepathy at this point

I'm speaking more to the fact that he's been bad, they need to recoup assets/picks, and the fact that they have no room for him. It makes no sense. Not to mention those two guys's contracts are going to shape how the rest of the team fits together so its best to know what they are looking for in order to plan for the future. You don't delay the two faces of the franchise to worry about a vanilla top 9 winger.

2002 Leafs fell victim to that. Two grueling, punishing 7 game series vs NYI and Ottawa and we just completely ran out of gas against a weaker Hurricanes team.

I've at least made my peace with the fact that we would've been dead meat for Detroit in the finals.

Oh boy, the flames should be scared. I heard McDavid gets angry after he gets shut out.

Sorry Calgary, we made him really really really angry for you.

Yeah I think Calgary can go on a bit of a run here, Sutter should give them a nice short term boost. The roster is more than good enough to make the playoffs.

Funeral for Walter Gretzky to be held Saturday in home town of Brantford - TSN.ca

The funeral for hockey legend Wayne Gretzky's father Walter will take place today in his hometown of Brantford, Ont.

You can watch it at 1:45pm et/10:45am pt on TSN3 or stream on TSN.ca, the TSN App and TSN Direct.

The service takes place two days after Walter Gretzky died at the age of 82.

A small memorial sprung up for Walter Gretzky outside the arena that bears his son's name in Brantford on Friday.

Two hockey sticks — one full-sized, one miniature — and a Canadian flag adorn the sign marking off Walter Gretzky's parking spot outside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.

Tributes poured in for the elder Gretzky after his death was announced by his son late Thursday night.

East division is overrated.

Buffalo, NJ and NYR are just bad, and Pittsburgh probably doesn’t make the playoffs with the old divisions.

None of the top teams in that division scare me. The other two divisions definitely have teams that scare, though...

Rangers I'd say.

Hmm I wonder. Doubt either of those 2 are as good as Eichel.

Kreider 29 - Eichel 24 - Panarin 29
Buchnevich 25 - Zibanejad 27 - Strome 27
Chytil 21 - Howden 22 -

Lindgren 22 - Fox 22
Miller 21 - Trouba 26

Shesterkin 25
Georgiev 24
