Sorry,,, but the roster is full up upfront

don't need to bump a kid to the 4th line for some geriatric with a sexy name.
Meh, we’re lacking a 4th line C with nobody really ready to take that spot, and our bottom line LW is currently either Leivo or Grundstrom.

Leivo isn’t much of a prospect at this point, and it wouldn’t hurt Grundstrom to spend a full year with the Marlies.

Thornton was on a 60 point pace last year, Neal was on pace for 50, and Nash still put up 21 goals.

Adding Thornton and one of those wingers would mean never really having to worry about the match-up game.

4th line is caught on an icing? I’m far more comfortable with that 4th line being Neal-Thornton-Brown than Leivo-Lindholm-Brown.

Obviously a dman would help, but there aren’t many options there that don’t involve trading someone we’d rather keep.

May as well have fun with the forward group before the cap crunch.

18 mins a night each to AM/JT/NK leaves 6 mins of pk and spot face off time for the 4th C

Goat/lindholm/,joors have that covered,,,, no worries there.

Leivo,Martin will be fine getting 6 mins a night.

I don't think any names you posted have interest in playing just 6 mins a night. Heck even Aaltanan said no to that.

Or you distribute the minutes more evenly so that everyone still has a ton of energy come the playoffs

Definitely wish we can make some kind of trade. The guy i want to go for right now is Fabbro...before he hits the NHL, before this it was theodore from anaheim right now thats my guy haha
I think you’re spot on.
Finding D who haven’t emerged yet will be the next best avenue to finding a core player.
Dubas seems to keep his eyes on all levels, so, I suspect he’s scouting around.

Well to be fair we need more help on the backend, but if we could swing it. wow.

He gone...
Honestly, if the Leafs can’t find help on the back-end, I could see them trying to lure some of the remaining UFA forwards on 1-year deals.

Could probably fit 2 of Neal/Nash/Thornton

Just gotta make sure they don’t take up any of the bonus room. Can’t afford to have that cap carry over to next season.

Frankly speaking...i think we need to look for trades on players who are very young or still on the rise so we can play around the cap and what not. Ala Blackhawks if we want to make this a proper train.

Those contracts are ugly af for Vancouver.

What are they doing? 3x4 for Beagle and Roussel? 1.9x2 for Schaller is palatable I guess. But still, that's 8M tied up into three 4th liners. Don't forget Loui Eriksson and his 6M cap hit for 4 more years. Put up 23points in 50 games last year, and that's a nounceback on the 24 in 65 games the year before. Ooofff.

I dunno how Leo got 3X4 either, he looked finished with the Leafs last year. Lots of questionable signings yesterday for sure.

Makes you wonder what the sales pitch was from Lou for Trotz to jump at the first offer he got. Dude should have been more patient as he held all the cards. This is how I picture his reaction after Tavares signed with the Leafs:

I definitely agree. I’d only sign a vet forward on a 1 year deal, while we keep the marlies machine churning.

well if you look at logs around the league

18 mins a night is actually on the low end for what is considered a top end lines and have 3 of them
20 mins a night is more the norm for top players.

If true, I have no doubts Karlsson will be moved within the next few weeks.

Doughty's contract is a clear comparable that Melnyk probably scoffed at, so now the direction is to trade him. I imagine he'll end up in Vegas, with Ryan going with EK to cut down the return for the Sens. Again because Melnyk is cheap and wants to save money.

If I were Stone I'd have huge demands for my next deal.

I agree with Vegas but Tampa also worries me.

The kicker for those Beagle/Roussel deals is the partial NTC they have

Such bad deals
Are you serious? Those guys got NTC's? so in other words, Benning was willing to give them more money and they took less for the NTC's? that's usually how it works. If I'm Dubas I'm calling Benning every day asking about his players. Benning has no clue what he's doing.

I was mistaken - Beagle doesn't have one, but Roussel does:

CLAUSE DETAILS: 2018-19: Player submits a 15 no team trade list. 2019-20 & 20-21: Player submits a 8 team no trade list. 2021-22: Player submits a 5 team no trade list.

15 teams in year one? jesus. Giving plugs like that an NTC is laughable. NTC's are reserved for stars IMO, not some 4th line plug.
