To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, not having a blue chip 1C prospect in the system is tomorrow guy's problem. Screw him. I'm today guy and I like what we've got going on.

I don't think some of you have a firm grasp on what a ridiculous contract for Kopitar does to the Kings window as soon as the 2016-17 season, but hey I could be wrong.

We get it. I don't think you get that we're ok with future cap struggles, as long as Kopi is signed. If it takes an overpayment to sign an elite player like Kopi, then that is what we'll have to do. I don't particularly like it myself, because much like you, I'm also frugal. However, if we say "no" to Kopi, then we might as well trade Doughty shortly thereafter, and any other elite players we may develop or obtain in the future.

I don't agree, because there is no way Dean would let Kopitar just walk, and a lot would depend on what came back to the Kings in a trade. Doughty is the player the Kings must build around at some point. I don't think Kopitar is irreplaceable at this stage of his career.

Save it for tomorrow guy, that's his problem.

Funny how "tomorrow guy" showed up last season.

I would trade him for Brian Engblom and Ken Houston.

Signed,
the guy from the avatar
:D

Isles took a big risk drafting him, he's been a disaster in juniors.

And before Ho-Sang was dismissed, had to run the stairs at the Coliseum for three hours as punishment. #Isles

Should have made him run back to Canada...

Whoa, let's reign the statement back.

How has he been a disaster in juniors? Please clarify.

His death was called prematurely, DocWest. Like Dewey defeats Truman.

Traded in June to the Bruins in the Milan Lucic deal, former Manchester Monarch Colin Miller is expected to play in tonight's exhibition game between the Boston Bruins and the New Jersey Devils. For those jonesing for any hockey, even non-L.A. hockey, you can see the game at 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST on the NHL Network. He'll be wearing #48. (NESN in Boston,) 98.5 The Sports Hub)

“It was mandatory that we had to trade him. For many, many, numerous internal reasons, the people that truly know what went on behind the scenes would understand why we had to trade him.â€

Don't see how that has affected him as a hockey player on the ice?????

His new coach said good things about him.

So please explain to me how he has been a disaster in juniors?

Richards and Carter were sent packing from Philly b/c they were party boys, yet I think we are all happy with them on the Kings and the two Cups.

If the kid can play which I believe he can, he should be in the NHL one day. He is just a 19 year old kid. Not all these guys can be Tavares mature at 17. I am not worried.

So as long as a player can handle a puck particularly well the rules don't apply to him? He should have no accountability for his actions? That's not the way it works, or should work. Come on, Trollposo, you're better than that.

You misinterpretted what I meant. I am fine with the Islanders reaction and disciplining of him. He was going back to juniors after camp either way before this incident. He is not ready for the pros physically or apparently mentally.

I was just reacting to the post that JHS has been a disaster since his draft. His play has been worthy of his draft position. He toned down his antics for the most part since he was traded in March. This incident is not worthy of calling him a disaster is all I am saying.

I am 100% supportive of the Isles handling of him being sent down. Whether Snow should have pubically commented about "enough BS" remains to be seen.

Fair enough.

Just read that he didn't even show up to practice until the Islanders staff got it. His roommate tried waking him up too. WTF...

"It's your first day of NHL camp and you're not here at all . . . I don't see that," Tavares said. "I don't get how you don't have 3-4 alarms set, how you're not jumping at that first opportunity to show what you need to show. I know how highly the organization views him, too."

Captain not happy and rightfully so.

I wouldn't let him touch NHL ice this season.

He is a junior eligible player. His only options are playing in juniors or be on the Isles. Obviously is not doing the latter this season. But there was a 99% chance he wasn't making the team even if he made training camp without incident.

Dean taking a gamble on Lucic (rental) should tell you he's absolutely not going to trade Kopitar next season because he wants to go for the cup.

What could we possibly get for Kopitar that will keep our window open? If he's so bad that Dean has to trade him in the middle of a season in which we're supposed to make a run then I can't imagine we'll get much for his expiring contract.

In reality Kopitar (best Kings forward) is not replaceable. But I'd love to hear who you think can take his spot and score at a PPG pace in the playoffs.

Matt Moulson. :sarcasm:

That was fun watching Colin Miller. He's got a little of Rob Blake in 'im, and it is too bad the Kings traded him.
