Last night on NHL Network, Elliotte Friedman thought that maybe, Rutherford left because his contract was up and there were some philosophical differrences in the path forward. today, a few of the local media are rumoring that Rutherford's trade suggestions were not in favor with ownership. which might tie into the differences. Could be he wanted to trade LeTang for youth/and or assets picks and they still think they have a window open.

Rob Rossi, who covers the Pens for the Althetic, shot that rumor down. But it could be something close to that, that Rutherfords thoughts on where the team should go, forward , didn't meet with the owners ideas. Which could explain a sudden decision.

Fair enough... it’s the first time I’ve come across him.. happy to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He's still not everyone's cup of tea either way, I get it. Mostly a baseball dude where it might work better due to the subtleties, and there's a little more 'teaching' involved. But I laughed at his breakdown of Thornton taking Karlsson hostage

Oh boy, seen this movie before and we know it's not a happy ending

I mean, there's going to be wild speculation about any GM that quits in the middle of a season with no reason given.

Which is why I think the rumor about the Letang trade was closer to what happened.,

Rumor: Botched Blockbuster Trade Triggered Penguins' GM To Resign - NHL Rumors - NHLTradeRumors.Me

The ownership group had a different perspective that Rutherford could not overcome. They believe Letang should retire as a Penguin if he so wishes and would not allow this trade to happen. Both Rutherford and the owners have a legitimate perspective, but Rutherford felt handcuffed in his efforts to continue the team's success. Hence, he resigned.

NHL get your shit together you are canabalizing yourself! 1 game today when there was like 13 Thursday, 2 Wednesday and a crap load this past Tuesday, and hardly any this past Monday. Spread it out!! I like watching any game I can but will watch the kings when they are on. I have not been able to view as much because of this.

There is my rant for the day...Happy Friday
