No one has any $$

There is a rumor than he wanted to sign with VCR , and they have been trying to free up cap space.
Until now, there has been zero pressure for anyone to do anything

This reminds me when there was a really bad flu season like five years ago and flu vaccine was in short supply. I guess in Canada you have to go to a clinic to get a shot and there was a long waiting list, so the Calgary Flames set up their own private clinic so they could buy the vaccine and administer it to the team and personnel. People in Alberta threw a fit about it.

Edit: should have read further down. :P

what happened that year was the flu shot was in short supply. Any business that had enough people could contact AHS (Alberta Health Services) and get them to come to the office to administer the shot. This is what the Flames and Oilers did, and alot of other companies did too. Was poor optics but nothing wrong considering oil and gas companies in Calgary were doing it too. AHS should have stopped that program when supplies were low and ensured high priority people received it. Was just a sexy headline.

Van is rumored to want Hoffman and need to clear cap to do so.
I imagine a lot of teams want him but need to clear space. I am also guessing Hoffman would rather play for one of those teams and is waiting instead of signing with a team like Nashville.

well i have read he wants to go to Vancouver and is waiting for the schedule to be announced So I expect alot of moves after this is announced

Got a cap question:

Is the deadline for teams to be cap compliant the last day of training camp or another day? We all know TB is a mess (cap wise) and they still need to sign Cirelli and Cernak. Just wondering when we’ll start seeing moves.

I think last day of camp. I am sure that date will come out when they actually announce everything

Thank TB GM will be looking at every option to get compliant. Watch, someone will go on a mysterious LTIR.

I was definitely thinking Kane...2013? 2015? Forget which year. Stamkos IS looking a little worse for the wear...

regardless I think right now it's less sinister--they're probably waiting more for a certain start date and cap details because it's all that close.

NHL teams can exceed by 10% in the offseason, but must be CAP Compliant by the time the season starts. That has not be determined yet but appears that is might be mid Jan.

ANd I would expect the trades to start soon , as (per below) 10 teams over the CAP limit.

Examining the NHL’s top 14 buyout candidates of 2020 - Sportsnet.ca

That first buyout window shuts on Oct. 8.

Here is a breakdown of 14 players who might be considered for a buyout, and the pros and cons of pulling the trigger on arguably the most uncomfortable tool at a GM’s disposal.

For the teams looking for a nice veteran defenseman, who a good PK'er, Stralman would be a good signing , if he's available.

Seems the Flyers were interested in Laine. Not sure of the source.

That goes back to last year, pre shutdown, when the teams suppossed were in 'talks' and has remained in that area. Asking price too high and Laine's forthcoming salary in a frozen CAP would be not doable. Among other big ticket contracts coming up are Couturier ( whose a steal at 4.25 M currently.), he's a top center in the league, and will get 10M >He's the teams best player and it's heart and soul. SO he's a must. Girioux, garbage in the playoffs and at 35 when the new deal starts, I'd let him go. He's not a part ofr their core going forward. Hart will need a deal as well.
So along with Johnny Hockey and other top wingers, Fletcher has been shopping to upgrade so far hasn't pulled the trigger.

And what you'd have to give up, with no guarentee he'd sign, is too risky. He's Aho's best friend and the Canes would love to have him, but like the Flyer sand others, not for the asking price. So that's giving up too much for a potential rental.
I know he's talented, but I'd pass. Rumor was the Jets wanted Provorov among others (they wanted a top D, top center and high draft pick)

Flyers have talent in the system, and should harvest that.

There is an issue with the Canadian provicial health authorites and the NHL propsal, so the Canadian division idea might get scrapped. More hurdles in the return to play.

TSN (lebrun , Seravalli, etc) discuss it here

Insider Trading: All-Canadian division could be in jeopardy

pretty ridiculous IMO. Other businesses can fly from province to province so I don't understand the hurtle for teams to take, a chartered, flight full of players, tested daily, from province to province.

Some of the restrictions on sports is 100% for optics. Until recently people could go to a movie theater but to a hockey game.
