Nelson and some of the others I figured but given his high draft pick status was surprised that McTavish would be available.

Now where is it said that 'elite' actually has to be any good? I mean Bertie Wooster is in the upper echelons of the society with his own valet and all, and he's still pretty useless.

Do you think Francis would trade with the Canes?
I don't know. Holding grudges as a GM is stupid, but Francis seems like the type of GM who would.

Regardless, I'm thinking more about free agency, though a sign and trade would work just fine for me. 3-4 year deal, taking him to 35 or 36, and he's a much better 2C option than any of our other options. Decent scoring and a lot of presence all over the ice. I still remember that Tampa 3rd line with their cup teams- his line was really central to the identity of those teams.

He's been squabbling online with JFresh and Dom re: the value of advanced stats
I went out and read all that. Sounds like just a bunch of good natured ribbing and DeAngelo doesn't seem to take himself too seriously.

Separately, he also responded to someone who was worried about Rod losing the room.

Conventional wisdom is to win games against them.

The key to this strategy is to be part of an organization which is not the Buffalo Sabres.

What's weird is Buffalo had all the pieces needed to be successful. They had a 1C (Eichel), a 2C (ROR), a 50-goal scorer (Reinhart), a 1D (Dahlin) and a true #1 goalie (Ullmark)

Yet they were unable to keep most of them
