Let's be real here, those investigations and ultimate punishments in the grand scheme of purchasing a team is like negotiations over whether or not a used car has one of those air fresheners that hangs from the rear view mirror. Price wouldn't change and he'd have still decided to buy the team.

Probably but I feel like you'd have a case if you bought a company and an ongoing investigation that led to a $6mm fine wasn't disclosed.

Using $6mm as that's essentially what the Canes paid for the 1st rounder from Toronto in the Marleau trade. Unrelated but Jarvis was worth every penny of Tom's money!

I would rather liken it to a situation where the used car was sold with "two sets of tires" but the winter tire set is then found to not be street-legal due to some of them missing too many studs.

With the buy out it ended up being $3.8m actual dollars ($6.25m cap hit). Even more of a bargain than you thought!

Skinner scored but Tortorella challenged and it was offsides. 30 seconds later a Buffalo player scored his first ever goal.

Also Carter Hart got hurt, backup coming in for the Flyers

I very much agree with the general point; it is a true statement to make, however, that Waddell always kept a clean cap sheet in Atlanta. Yes, there were a couple of contracts that didn't pan out the greatest, but they never had issues with grazing the ceiling during his reign. This was very much not the case with Chiarelli in Boston or Edmonton.
Waddell also ran the business side of the Canes for 4 years before he was given a chance to GM again, and even then it was initially only on a contingency basis until Dundon decided he and Waddell worked well together.

Chiarelli's record in Boston was mixed, despite the cup, and his record in Edmonton was flat out bad. He was not hampered by leadership in either case as far as I'm aware. Not sure what case he has to be given another chance.

Yeah but it generally doesn't go well when you tell an owner that "its you, not me!"

You're not saying "it's you, not me", you're saying "it's not me, it was those idiots, and I know you're a significantly wiser person who won't repeat their mistakes" to the next owner you're interviewing with.

So uh...

Sharks lost to the Canucks 10-1 last night. Which means the Canucks scored the same amount of goals in that single game as the Sharks have all season.

We might be seeing a historically bad team here.
After the shenanigans at the deadline last year, couldn't happen to a nicer team,

How much you wanna bet that Grier ends up back with the Devils before the end of the season

Canes have never scored 10 in a game. Whalers scored 10 once and 11 4 times. Canes' biggest blowout win was a 9-0 win over the Isles in '09.

I remember that 9-0 win. Came a game after clinching a playoff spot. Outshot them like 58-13.

I do recall a playoff game where they scored 8 and of course there's the 8-6 win over the Flyers. I'm sure they've scored 7 a handful of times.

And when the Isles began to good things up they got pissed off we ran up the score on the PP from all their dumb ass penalties. Good times!

We won in Tampa 9-3 a few weeks before the Isles 9-0 game. Was at both games. Fun times!

Was that the game Eric had 4 goals? Yeah I remember now too

Yeah 4 goals for Staal. That was a memorable trip for me. Cam Ward’s aunt & uncle introduced themselves to us while we walking around downtown Tampa before the game. Our row at the game was the lucky seats to win $5 Subway gift cards. That trip also convinced me to move to Tampa for a few years

Worked the Flyers again tonight. Didn’t have as much success getting on air as the last time, but it gave me more of an opportunity to really watch them play.

I will say if Zamula ever becomes available, Carolina should definitely look into adding him. Yes, it’s another defenseman, but his defensive play was very solid for someone so young. Especially his gap control as opponents enter the zone. Could be a possible Pesce replacement if we decide to go that route.

Questions: If the Canes are going to play Necas on the 4th line, should they use him as a center in lieu of a forward?

Should Necas or Bunting play on the 4th line?
