No Canes...No Avs from Civ. We're the established elder statesmen...the methodical IBM of hockey.

WTF is Shittsburgh on that list for? Geriatric squad. And Seattle had a good year last year but I don't see them as being "one to watch". Chicago is literally only on there for Bedard, not sure that alone will be a reason to watch. This list honestly kinda sucks

I mean if you want to see teams that are bad at defense and good at scoring, then yeah that’s about right. Pittsburgh is at least a curiosity with Karlsson added I can dig that. If you want to watch actual good hockey? Yeah not those teams.

I mean, I have no problem with Seattle or Dallas being on that list from a "good hockey" perspective. But those are the only two.

New Jersey and Edmonton are fun from a ridiculous offense + "what's defense" standpoint.

Buffalo is fun as one of those up and coming teams.

Chicago... no chance. Couldn't pay me to watch more than one game this season and that's only to see Bedard. That team is going to completely suck ass by design. That 2019 Checkers team might have been able to give these guys a series.

Pittsburgh as you said is more a curiosity. IMO it's going to be like watching a franchise destroy itself in slow motion which, I mean if you're a Penguins hater have at it.

As for Florida, I have no idea what to make of them. Bob's never having a run like that again and I think they're going to be closer to that New Jersey/Edmonton category, but just a lite version of it.

But, yeah, the lack of Toronto, Vegas, Colorado, Tampa, or us on this list is just... meh.

If I’m doing that list for casual observation:

1. Edmonton
2. Colorado
3. Dallas (Heiskanen is so f***ing good)
4. Buffalo (bet the over and go….)
5. Chicago (for Bedard only)
6. Ottawa
7. Seattle
8. Anaheim (if Leo Carlsson plays)

Skill on skill on skill with minimal consideration for the defensive zone (except Dallas)

Edit: Forgot about Jersey, they belong for sure.

Ottawa and Anaheim are interesting ones. The Sens could be one of those teams that is sneaky good ahead of schedule this year like Jersey was last year, and Anaheim should be better just from getting rid of their garbage coach from last year, plus Zegras is just fun to watch.

I'd go:

fun n gun tier:
1 - Buffalo (rising teams bonus puts them at #1)
2 - Edmonton
3 - Jersey

that's good hockey tier:
4 - Colorado
5 - Dallas
6 - Seattle

rising teams:
7 - Los Angeles
8 - Ottawa

Chicago will need to actually put something that resembles an NHL team together for me to watch more than one time this season.

#1 should be really obvious:

Jeez Dave, Ottawa ahead of schedule? I know the Canes had 10 years of no playoffs but I’m not super interested in challenging that mark!

I mean, the Leafs have to be on there just so you can experience the Schadenfreude of the coming meltdowns when they lose two in a row, or after their annual loss to Arizona.

The Hawks are for the Bedard-curious only.

And Seattle was fun in the playoffs, but all the regular season games I saw last year were just deadly dull, no matter the score.

Penguins. Lol. Is she trying to seduce Pierre Maguire?

Frankly the two least surprising things about that list are the Penguins being on it because of Karlsson playing with Crosby. And the Canes not being on it despite their success since apparently we play boring dull hockey.

Actually I'll say three least surprising for the Bedard factor.

Buffalo, NJ, and Seattle were hands down the most fun teams to watch last year. Edm too. Even in Seattle’s first year they were fun to watch, they just had crap goaltending. They play a high tempo game, they absolutely deserve to be up there. The other two do as well. I don’t think Seattle making the playoffs and a bit of a run has anything to do with it, they’re really just fun to watch.

I think people may not have read the article and the disclaimer: "When I ask myself, "Which NHL teams are going to be the most fun next season?" I'm asking a few questions. Beyond the offseason moves, which off-ice storylines are reaching a boiling point? Which teams are desperate but not totally pathetic (what's more fun than desperation hockey)? Which teams are so pathetic that it becomes entertaining (looking at you, 2022-23 Ducks)?"

So it's more than "run and gun scoring without defense", it's other things that may make them fun.

I'm definitely going to tune into Chicago games to see Bedard. I'm also much more interested in Pittsburgh this year after acquiring EK. NJ and Buffalo are fun teams to watch due to their offense. Florida to see if they can build on last year, etc.. Edmonton has the best player on the planet, maybe the 2 best so they are always a must-see.

Like @hblueridgegal said. Teams like Carolina, Colorado, TB, and even Toronto have been steady playoff teams and are just expected to be good again in almost a machine like way.

the only one that is a bit surprising given her criteria is Seattle. Only because they are a LOT like Carolina. They are fast and just plain work hard. Maybe it's because they are like the Canes of a few years ago, just starting to make their ascent that puts them on the list.

I wanted to watch all of Ovechkins games his rookie year and the Capitals were horrific. Pittsburgh too with Crosby but they also had Mario.
See I approached both Crosby and OV with the same attitude I am with Bedard. I'll want to see them once to see if the hype is real, but I ended up watching a LOT of Caps games that year because OV was just damn fun to watch. I really wasn't sold as much on Crosby early on, though he got better as the season went on and I tuned in for fun matchups there (Pens-Caps mostly).

I mean I don't like the caps but I do like Ovechkin. Some players are fun to watch. That doesn't make the team fun to watch.
