While I'm not in love with Colorado's move for Johansen (though it's a reasonable enough risk), I like the moving out of Newhook and essentially getting a late first and Colton for him. Very good business.

Laf is probably my #1 target too this offseason. I just think we'd get a 60 point player with good two way game and team control for probably a 1st. It's still an unlikely acquisition but it would absolutely make sense assets-wise, long-term wise, and it'd fit the Borg's MO.

We could probably swing Laf and a scorer with one year remaining from a team who needs cap room for a splash at free agency. I see us getting the player with a year left rather than going after a UFA.

The Devils were already a very good team and will likely continue to be. As I said before, if they can get their blue chip dmen to play at a high level quickly on their ELCs, they will be a top of the line Cup contender. However, as good as they look, they still don't have that much better of a chance to win the Cup than anyone else. It really is just the way it works. Even the best teams have flaws. Right now, they do have the questions on D until proven otherwise, solid but not spectacular goaltending unless their guys take some steps, and I still think Ruff is a pretty meh coach overall.
