I was looking into Meier earlier today and noticed the top 5v5 goal scorer in the NHL just above McDavid, Pastrnak and Jack Hughes is... Jared McCann.

Give me 100 guesses and I wouldn't have gotten it. I guess 3 seasons going from 8% to 14% to 30% shooting % will do that.

once you bring Seinfeld into it AND f*** it up, I have to comment.
Why Kramer is walking down the street is irrelevant to the joke and the analogy.

Whether he was walking "for the cause" or walking down the street to return a pair of pants (the very pants he was wearing), the skit still works...a group of overzealous fools try to force him to wear something he doesn't want to wear. Kramer holds frame and the "ribbon bullies" lose their shit.

They don't care about his reason...they just want him to comply.

Are you being intentionally obtuse or do you actually believe what you are saying?

JR is the master of the in-season coach firing. This is #6: Holmgren, Maurice, Laviolette, Maurice, Johnston, Boudreau.

Thinking of that list, I don't know what's cringier, how this whole thing went down or PK publicly trashing Lavi after the change.

Its crazy to me that Rutherford is in the Hall of Fame, but the fanbase of literally every team he’s been a part of is either happy he’s gone or (currently) cursing his name.

Like, I get it. The Cups. But he left Carolina in a swamp that took Francis’ entire tenure here to dig out of, and he was selling off everything he could get his hands on in Pittsburgh before they wised up and booted him. And what he’s doing in Vancouver is shameful.

100%. Not to mention the amount of lawsuits that have been involved in the last three franchises he ran..

To be fair, it was generally acknowledged at the time he was hired by Pittsburgh that his mandate was to "win now" and extend their Cup chances as long as they could with the core that they had. But yeah, tar and feather him for the shape he left the Canes in, lol.

To also be fair, the "mess" he left Carolina in had a lot to do with Karmanos as well. From 06-11 they were actively trying to make the playoffs. Karmanos never wanted a full rebuild for this market, until he finally decided to sell the team where he decided to cut costs (and player salaries). He's not the right GM for a rebuild though as that's not his style, which made the Vancouver decision puzzling to me.

This - Karmonos needs to have his name wiped from that road by the PNC.

What is he doing in Vancouver that is shameful?

He overpaid JT Miller.....at least he hasn't traded away a bunch of futures for people who will fix nothing in the short term.

I don't follow them at all and must've missed the tweets or whatever it was....can I get a tldr?
JR and the Canucks have had him in limbo for a while. Everyone knew he was getting fired, Bruce included, but they kept having him coach. The fans rallied around Bruce and had him to tears behind the bench more than once. Even some of the players said it affected them because they all love him. Lots of hockey people upset with the Canucks because of it.

Meanwhile coaching isn't Vancouvers problem.

Jr really is the worst.

Notice that even in this “apology” to Boudreau, he doesn’t actually apologize. He basically said “Sorry for being too honest”, which is a real dick thing to say after he, by his admission, badmouthed him for months.

The whole thing has been a clown show.

From what I understand of the situation JR wanted to fire Boudreau from the get go but they were still paying Green’s contract and ownership said they wouldn’t pay for two coaches not coaching. JR has dragged Boudreau through the mud with the media, while sorta pretending that he didn’t have a HC already lined up. Tocchet and the TNT crew were having a good chuckle about it weeks ago when supposedly no decision had been made yet makes the whole thing look even worse. Especially when Boudreau is saying in press scrums and interviews that no one has talked to him about any of this at all, no communication from the FO whatsoever.

I sorta understand why JR did what he did as far as timing, easy part of the schedule coming up, all-star break. I don’t think from a PR perspective it could have been handled any worse. Really it seems like it boiled down to the fans seeing through JR’s BS of throwing Boudreau under the bus for their failures. Now there’s speculation that some players supposedly want out, oof. Good luck to Tocchet and Foote taking over that locker room. Just really sloppy stuff from JR and ownership all around.

Rutherford made a lot of really awful decisions following the 16-17 cup and prior to the 15-16 cup.

He nearly traded a lottery pick for David Perron. And put us in a cap situation where Paul Martin had to play 15+ minutes in a period one night.

And then following the 16-17 cup he blew up their entire competitive advantage in center depth to pay Matt Hunwick and trade for Ryan Reaves. Then brought in Jack Johnson and Erik Gudbranson for reasons?

I will never understand why we did not resign Nick Bonino. Just awful management and he topped it off by helping Guerin throw dirt on a coach sexual assaulting his assistants wife and then literally quitting on the team midseason.

He will always deserve props for the back to back. But a lot of that was having Phil Kessel fall in his lap and not moving Murray in that trade.
