Rangers blew a 3-0 lead today
It's no coincidence they traded Reaves.
Well, maybe.
Rangers blew a 3-0 lead today
If you haven’t seen enough pissing and moaning on this board in the last week or so, the Rangers board post-collapse is a masterpiece and HOF example of fans going into meltdown mode. All of a sudden they hate their team makeup from the FO all the way down the 4 lines worse than we do ours. Blue tears for a change.Rangers blew a 3-0 lead today
Not sure I’d call that getting pounded, only landed one real shot that I could see. Absolutely ragged dolled though. Almost like what Chara would do to a guy he really didn’t want to mess up.
Should we start a main board thread asking if the Rangers could go back would they still draft them (and Kakko)?
TDA gets pounded:
But what if in our reverse of the reverse jinx we con someone into reverse jinxing the reverse of the reverse jinx? A double reverse jinx has to be more powerful than a reverse jinx.
Patches alone ain't solving this problem
Been a while since I glanced at the standings, just saw a new Chuck Fletcher thread, sure enough the Flyers are in the midst of another 10 game losing streak.
I had missed this detail. Glad he's flourishing.

So Scoring 20 goals less then expected is good right? I mean we are in playoff position so it can't be THAT bad (TM)
It just means that reversion to the mean I keep thinking about is going to be SWEET!
Why do you think that? He's got speed, but he's frequently out of position, makes bad reads, takes ill advised pinches and basically plays chaotic.I'm glad that Bear's doing well. There's plenty of times where guys are clearly NHL players but our roster was just too deep for them to stick with Rod's groups. Even with Chatfield's struggles during our slump, he clearly can be a very effective defensive third pair righty with speed and size at his best.

I'm glad they did right by Bear, and if the intent was to trade him from the moment of the signings then fine, but I can't see how he'd be worse (other than a higher salary) than Chatfield, Coghlan or even CDH.

Is it possible they think they can develop Coghlan or Chatfield into a decent 3rd pair defenseman by the end of the year, and are willing to take the lumps now?
Because if not.... phew, what a bad miss this past summer
"Between the ears" issues are many times harder to fix than some other issues. I just don't see it in him. Hope I'm wrong though.Chatfield absolutely has the physical chops to improve. Most of his issues so far have been between the ears rather than pure incapability. Clearly Brind'Amour thinks the same way.
Sometimes they're hard to fix, but especally on D a guy often just needs reps seeing the game at NHL speed. That's more the sense I get from Chatfield."Between the ears" issues are many times harder to fix than some other issues. I just don't see it in him. Hope I'm wrong though.
Brind'Amour doesn't have a choice. It's either Coghlan or Chatfield...and neither are great options. Right now all of Chatfield, Coghlan and CDH are terrible.
The 3rd pairing isn't going to be out there and score a lot of goals, but they get VERY sheltered minutes and are giving up as many goals as the top 2 pairings in much less TOI.
IMO, even though Chatfield's rough around the edges, he's noticeably better than Bear was in the past year or so. I liked Bear and rooted for him hard, but he played his way out of the lineup fair and square.

Chatfield has zero points in 22 games. Even for a physical, defensive 3rd pair D that isn't cutting it.I'm a Chatfield stan. He's just getting used to playing regular minutes in the NHL. It's a grind he probably isn't used to, but I think he has the talent to be a good bottom pairing d-man in this league. Time will tell if he's another Brett Bellemore or not. But we're an extremely analytics focused team and Rod is an outstanding coach and still keeps him in the lineup, so even if he's struggling lately he must be doing something right to stay in the lineup over Coghlan who I thought was a lock to be in the roster every night.
