I was watching the Edler play last night and just thought, that wasn't too bad. I guess a minor makes sense. I wasn't even thinking of his history at the time, but now that I do, I still look at it and think, that wasn't too bad.
Given the lack of a 40 page gripe fest on the main boards I am also inclined to think that wasn't too bad.

At what point does Calgary hit the panic button? For that matter is there even a panic button when you’re already all-in with the group you have?
I haven’t watched them much. Is it goaltending that’s killing them? Or defense in general? A quick look at non fancy stats show they are scoring slightly more g/gp more than the canes, their special teams are better than the canes, but they give up over a half a goal per game more than the Canes. Markstrom and Vladar don’t have good numbers.

Like Ottawa and Columbus, they won the off-season.

They are in too deep to hit a panic button. Also too early to do so. They may try to change things up in the off-season.
How dare you bring us into it! Lol.

It’s been a rough first month and a bit … lose 1C, 1 RHD and then last week lose 1LHD …

Hopefully Zub and Chabot come back soon (and Chabot starts playing worth a damn). From what I’ve seen so far, they’re playing totally fine … a combination of mediocre goaltending, bad luck and untimely misplays has led to losing a ton of 1 goal games.

The upside? Last year and years past, games were over by the second period. We’re in every game now.

Might take a minute for some of the young guys to learn how to win the tight ones.

Play like Rod Brind’amour
I think part of the problem is not everybody can maintain that level of play for a full 82 plus playoffs.

One good thing about the Devils winning streak is hopefully this takes them out of the Bedard race. I still want them to cool off though.
I think they’re legit. The ceiling for some of their players is pretty damn high imo.

Vancouver looks like it needs a change up again. It will be interesting to see if JR and co. give it to them this time. They got baited by the hockey equivalent of the dead cat bounce last season/offseason.

Is DJ Smith going to be the first coach fired?

pros:
-a new coach might be able to turn around the prospects and Chabot
-it would put more than 8k fans in the stands, especially if they end the year on a good note

cons:
-they're looking like a lock for a top 3 lottery pick so no need to disturb the tank
-I'm getting a kick out of how much Smith is transforming into motivational speaker Matt Foley with each passing year

So what you're saying is that, if forced to choose, they should be slacking in November and turning it on in April, so long as they can grind out points in the meantime and make the playoffs?

I agree 100%.
Add in some questionable LTIR star power and voila, Tampa Bay playbook.

It took TB a few seasons to figure it out. Maybe the Hurricanes are starting to come around?

Team didn’t want to tank this year, though. They “won” the off-season and were expecting to be back in the playoffs.
