trouba is clearly a headhunting arse who is appreciated by Rag fan base but despised by the others. Last night's hits were vicious but under the letter of the law "clean" (I thought Jarvis' was dirty).

Re: the words....just have to careful what you say today. What we said to each years ago to insult/kid each other (without triggering btw) as kids/young people just does't fly in this environment.

he'll be free to do it until he does it to Jack Hughes. Then the league will finally care.
maybe but still doubtful. he literally won them a playoff series by knocking out the NHL's golden boy Crosby with a massive cheapshot and there was like 1 day of people caring then everyone moved on with the league doing nothing. Maybe it's because Crosby is old and a young superstar becoming a victim might result in something but still doubt it

Weak and effeminate / soft, yes. Gay, no. I've never associated it with "sexual preference" nor known anyone who has or has ever had an issue with it. There are plenty of other words to use for that purpose
Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Definition of PANSY

1: a garden plant (Viola wittrockiana) derived chiefly from the hybridization of the European Johnny-jump-up (Viola tricolor) with other wild violets
also : its flower
2 a - offensive : a weak or effeminate man or boy
—used as a term of abuse and disparagement

2 b - offensive : a gay man
—used as a term of abuse and disparagement

The point of my post wasn't about it being a slur or not, as that's not my call to make. My point was about the intent of your post in general and the reaction you got. That's fine though, just not my cup of tea.

No kidding. I didn't know it was a gay slur. I wonder what options we have for insulting someone's manliness without calling them gay. I guess we could just be nice to eachother, but that seems a little, uh...

Like I said, not for me to say one way or another. God knows as kids we used that term all the time and never thought it was homophobic. We probably used a lot of other terms back then that would not fly today as an adult.

Again, that wasn't the main point of my response. I've explained that so no need to re-iterate.

Trouba no doubt will target players in the playoffs. It worked really well for the Rags last year. Canes should be mindful of this because the Rags committed penalties against us without any fear of our PP. To me, it was a big factor in the outcome of that series.

I've recently mentioned Tanner Jeannot of Nashville. Not sure he is available but why wouldn't he at the right price. having a quiet year but the guy is a hitter and can hold his own as a fighter. He would help the Aho TT line (this may be over slotting him) or the 2nd line if SAT line is reunited.

In all fairness, I'm pretty sure it's one of many words that over the past 5-10 years or so (the age of being offended by everything) we've "redefined" to fit some groups agenda. I literally never heard of "pansy" as a reference to "gay man" until just now...more like a synonym for "wuss" or "coward". Just like people throw around "snowflake" at everyone who disagrees with them.
