On top of extending Huberdeau and Weegar to ridiculous contracts before they even played a game... you can add losing Valimaki off waivers to the list of blunders that Calgary has made this year. Imagine giving up on your highly regarded first round dman that quickly in his young career. Also giving up a first rounder and Monahan just so you can give a retirement contract to Kadri? Then also signing Mangiapane to a big contract after one breakout year is biting them in the ass. Just bad decisions after bad decisions from that club lol.

In the midst of all the dumb things they did this off season, trading the 1st to Montreal to get rid of Monahan kind of flew under the radar.

That is a TERRIBLE deal, especially in the context of that space being used to sign Kadri to an albatross.

Was a lot of talk about Karlsson and his points once Timo was dealt and that he'd have no one to help him out.

Still 8 points in 8 games since Timo was dealt. Or 11 points in 11 games since playing with the guy.

Not bad production still.

Flames fans think they have a good team but in reality they are closer in points with Detroit Red Wings than fourth place in their own division.

And Detroit has played one less game.

That is not how good teams perform.

They're too dumb to grasp the difference between expected goals and actual goals.

Their team is very good at putting pucks on goal and outshooting, but not good at scoring. The "good at scoring" part is a major hole in their team that can't be overcome no matter how hot your analytics or shooting metrics look. Up front they basically have four third line energy lines that work hard and can win shifts, but aren't going to score with any sort of reliability.

It's funny you have WPG in front of you and on back to back nights they beat FLA and TB. Who after tonight also have 4 games against NSH, STL, ARI and ANA.

Then you have the Flames in last 5 days throwing up duds against ARI and ANA. And now have 3 tough games against LV, DAL and LA with ANA a team you just lost to the next night after LA.

They were so damn worried about other team's schedules that they forgot to take care of their own business.

Seems all year between expected stats and schedule watching the Flames and their fans really ended up with a huge sense of optimism when they clearly shouldn't have. Maybe they also should've listened when people said their lack of injuries last year really masked their club as well.
