Jeez, the first response to the main board thread on him left in and giving up 8:

"Sacco wanted to pull him at 7 but Swayman wanted to hold out for 8.5"

You hate to see it. Ullmark also held out. I imagine he could let in 8 as well.

Its hilarious reading a number of habs posts. Toronto lives in their head rent free. They make fun of Toronto choking in the playoffs. At least Toronto is in the playoffs, not sucking the bottom of the league. Every post I read from the habs boards make me laugh at them. Salty much?

They have nothing else to cheer for and won't for a long time still.

Hey, it's a rebuild. You didn't know?

They drafted a perfectly good sex offender. That counts for something, right?

Pretty crazy ending to the Rangers game.

I think Zibanejad gets named Captain next. I would say Fox but I think they go with a forward this time. Good riddance to that locker room cancer Jacob Trouba.

Unloading a toxic "me first" player like him is addition by subtraction.

I don't think even the most optimistic could have predicted Michkov at a point a game so far. He's like a beautiful flower in a garbage dump. Philadelphia stinks and so does their coach.

I don't think firing Tortorella will make them a contender but it's worth a try.

Replacing Ruff with Keefe got Jersey and their young players turned around. The results so far have been entirely predictable. Buffalo is bottom of the league while the Devils are having a record breaking regular season.

Only to go out in the first round...

Buffalo may never win again

..... gladly is an understatement.
The path to the SCF looks achievable this year if the core have and are willing to do whatever it takes.

Round #1 - Boston or Tampa -both have taken a step back. Bruins a huge step.
Round #2 - Florida has put on many hard miles the last two years and is not as deep as they were last year
Round #3 - NJ or Carolina - both teams soft as butter and have suspect goaltending

How can you sign Marner for $13m and lock into this core if you cannot get to the SCF this year with the defense and goaltending Tre has assembled?

Seriously, what excuses do they have left?

Ottawa giving it to the Ducks. 5-0 in the 3rd

I want to see the Leafs THUMP the Ducks.

Ducks are absolutely horrendous and a team like the Leafs should dominate from puck drop to horn.

I was hoping they'd break the shut-out ...

But after getting blown out ... they'll be playing peeved off, and they have won games this year.

Won more than the Preds ...

Man, Sens fans in the trade forum sure get pissy at any suggestion regarding their boy. Here's hoping the playoff warrior walks in 3 years. I'd like to see Brady in FLA, just for his sake. Can't be no fun sitting in the stands watching your brother lift the cup, when your team was out of it by Christmas.

I imagine it's mostly a defense mechanism at this point. I think they all know that Tkachuk is going to be traded at some point, likely in the not too distant future. I still have no idea why he ever signed a long-term contract with Ottawa. He got some terrible advice on that contract, both from a money and time perspective.

He might be, but it won't be for the load they're expecting. If Staios doesn't do something before his trade protection locks in next summer, my guess is he'll walk.

Ottawa's last two captains have been drama queens.
