I don't think much was out there for Dubas to sign that summer when it came to goalies. I think the baffling part was going with 5 years.

In retrospect almost certainly should have made a trade instead.

I appreciated Dubas' talk about 'process' but you'd think he'd be able to accept by then that evaluating goaltending was a Blindspot for himself.

Even with the POV that goaltending can be largely voodoo (which I don't disagree with), why give a guy so much money and term....

I wouldn’t let Dubas find my team a goalie if our beer league tender called at 8 pm saying he can’t make the 10 pm game…….even if we were playing in the Soo.

Last night in Buffalo, Ryan Mcleod scored a hat trick for the Sabres despite only having 2 shots on goal for the game.

Also, the Sabres scored a goal in th 3rd period despite having ZERO shots on goal the entire period.

Quick edit, it looks like somehow the NHL found a way to edit the stats on McLeod and gave him a 3rd shot on goal.

Yet the 2nd part of it remains, the Sabres scored a goal in the 3rd period but officially have been credited with zero shots on goal for the period.

Former Maple Leafs GM and current Penguins GM and President Kyle Dubas has been eviscerated by NHL Insider Frank Seravalli in a heated rant.​

We've already seen signs that members of the media and fans in Pittsburgh were beginning to turn on ex-Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas, and another big one has dropped.

Dubas was back in the spotlight this week after the Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a terrible loss to Seattle where the Kraken scored three straight in the third to win the game 4-2.

That was followed up by putting goaltender Tristan Jarry on waivers, who was given a five-year, $26.8 million contract back when Dubas took over in Pittsburgh as the President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.

While the Jarry contract has turned out to be a huge mistake on the part of Dubas, Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff contends it's far from the only error he's made over the past year.

A Clueless Dubas has built a Pens team that is 32nd (last) in GA/G @ 3.67 and the 30th worst sv% at .888

Buyer's Remorse in Pittsburgh in already underway.

While the Jarry contract has turned out to be a huge mistake on the part of Dubas, Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff contends it's far from the only error he's made over the past year.

"It feels like not enough critical thought and analysis was put into his decision making in Toronto, particularly since he tried to strong-arm the Leafs and wrestle control from president Brendan Shanahan. Now, it feels like the only deal that the Penguins will rue more than any of the ones Dubas made in his first year at the helm is the seven-year deal that they gave Dubas himself, one of the longest and richest of any executive in hockey."

So we can say Dubas isn't doing wonderfully in Pittsburgh, but wrt Jarry, just to list his stats prior to re-signing. Two years leading up to the contract with a minimum 80 games played (40 games per season).

I'm not making a judgement, except to say he isn't earning now, but his play leading up to the contract was top 10 in a number of categories.
