I don't think much was out there for Dubas to sign that summer when it came to goalies. I think the baffling part was going with 5 years.

In retrospect almost certainly should have made a trade instead.

I appreciated Dubas' talk about 'process' but you'd think he'd be able to accept by then that evaluating goaltending was a Blindspot for himself.

Even with the POV that goaltending can be largely voodoo (which I don't disagree with), why give a guy so much money and term....

That Dubas is a real genius with goalies. Nobody in Pitt understood the deal when he extended him to that contract, yet he did.

I mean I think Dubas took an unfavourable spot for a 'win now' environment, but he really has done a poor job in those circumstances.
