Few insiders have mentioned him missing the first round and I could see it.
I would be shocked if it isn't a torn groin muscle. This is a guy who played in the Cup final with a sternal fracture. He is basically a cyborg, and I mean that in a good way. For him to not be able to play in that US/Canada game means that he has something that is not just an ordinary injury.

Zito continuing to make smart moves...

Man they've gotten the majority of their top players through trades or other means other than drafting. Barkov is really their only big horse they drafted. Tkachuk, Reinhart, verh, forsling, now Jones all acquired through non drafting measures.

Meanwhile the leafs were busy for 5 years sending out premium assets for 20 game uses.

Kyle Dubas went about things in the wrong way in every aspect of the role. If he was opposite George he would've been a good GM.

That 8 point deficit will likely be 4 or 6 by Tuesday morning, depending on what Washington does against Ottawa on Monday. I think we are going to see the Leafs go on a pretty big run over the next 20 games given their schedule.
Here's hoping!

This race for the wildcard spots will be fun to watch.

So many teams bunched together with a shot to get in.

I really hope Columbus can hang on.

They literally traded their second best player to appease him, and end their fued within the team.

They chose his side and this is how Petterson re-pays them
The wholw Miller saga was crazy.

Canucks had the deepest C core in the league.

Then Miller won out over Horvat( at least they ended up with Hronek through that), then lost Miller and EP has all but vanished.

Disaster

He still has the ability, but you just see he has no confidence.

Boudreau spoke about the feud, and IIRC he said he told Miller that that approach would no work with him. Hopefully, Rangers have a stronger leadership and can navigate better. How are the Rangers doing?

lol we are going to face the upstart team that is playing for their fallen brother.

No chance we make it out of the first round

Every Cinderella run strikes midnight eventually.

The Jackets are a great story but they will be a first round elimination.

I don’t see them defeating either division winner.

Most “Cinderella stories” lose in the cup final. Montreal/early Vegas/anaheim/carolina etc all made it to the final

Zito is a really good GM. He was also fortunate with the Tkachuk situation, he demanded out of Calgary, it's not everyday a superstar tells their team he wants out and gives X destination lists. Good trade, but also good luck that Tkachuk was disgruntled in Calgary.

I think Florida is better today than they were a few days ago, but I also think they paid way too much for Jones. Knight was probably their 1G for the future after Bob, that + a first is a hefty price to pay for a nearly 31 year old 4D, who's signed for 7M until he's 35.

Ballsy move by Zito, if they repeat then he's a genius. If they come up short, it will be one of the worst trades they made. I just feel like they could've got a lot more for the assets they sent out. As an Atlantic rival I'm kinda happy because they don't have a whole lot of cap/assets to acquire other meaningful players, so this is likely what their team looks like going into the playoffs.

I think we have a lot more room to improve than them and we still have some good trade chips.
