I see this sentiment around here a lot and don't really share it - Hughes is franchise for sure and just keeps ascending, but Seider doesn't strike me as THE guy you build a team around. You can certainly build your defense around him, but I think there are maybe a couple of true "franchise defensemen" in the league and he's not quite one of them

If he becomes the RHD version of prime Victor Hedman then yes
I mean we’re looking at a 50pt shutdown dman as a floor. He’s not going to ever be dynamic like Makar is but I mean we’re probably looking at a dude that ends up somewhere in between Pietro and Hedman. Maybe Pierre doesn’t qualify as a franchise dmen, but I don’t think it’s out of the question that Seider hits franchise level.

I think the only franchise guys from 2019 are Hughes and Seider to this point
Seider is.not a franchise guy , Detroit 's drafting since Yzeman has been there is the pits

What if Zegras is ultimately just overconfident Drouin?
and a poorer skater.

I’d say as of today, those are the only two that have reached that level. But it wouldn’t shock anybody to have Zegras be a 1C that is a 90++ point guy. He’ll have flaws and cocky AF… but that’s a guy teams would love to build around.

Two really poor takes. Then a potential okay one. Cozens is great and will be great. Zegras has more pure upside.

I feel the hate on other 19s stems from Byram. The psychological need for Byram to be better than Zegras, Seider, Cozens, Boldy etc. I still remember the ire when I stated that Seider has surpassed Byram as the best defensemen prospect.

Also some serious underestimating of zegras’ offensive potential. He’s easily ppg+ at some point in his career and likely tops 100 with the way scoring is now. That part of his game can’t be debated.

However, nazem kadri put up these types of numbers just two seasons ago so it’s not the same accomplishment it was a decade or two ago and if he can’t round out his game I doubt he wins any meaningful personal or teams awards in his career

If Byram can simply stay healthy for an entire season and score at the pace he did during his first two partial seasons (which is ~50 points), Byram will be viewed very favorably in this respect.

Denver
William Nylander
Tim Stutzle
Cale Makar
Miro Heiskanen
Jack Eichel
Dylan Cozens
Sebastian Aho
Andrei Svechnikov
Sam Bennett

Keeper League is changing to five players because we lost a few people, so we're doing a bit of a redraft.
Who would you guys drop?

Byram will be fine and viewed favorably against some and not against others. Saying that, pace does not always pan out and staying healthy has been an issue. Two pretty major ifs.

Keep:

Stutzle
Makar
Nylander
Cozens
Eichel?

First 4 are fairly easy to me. Last one is tricky but on raw upside I think Eichel has the highest. At the same time you can usually draft some good Centers fairly late in fantasy drafts but wingers get chewed up quickly, particularly wingers with RW eligibility... For that reason Svechnikov is a strong option.

*Also just saying if you need more people to fill out the league I'd be happy to participate. I'm in 2 leagues already but usually am in 3 leagues, my 3rd league fell apart last year lol.

What are the scoring parameters? That would make some difference.

Bennett seems obvious, until you realize how many penalty minutes he gives you, but you can probably get those back with other players via draft every year.

Miro is a great Dman, but does he give you enough points and penalty minutes to justify keeping?

Eichel has played over 70 games just twice, and scored over 70 points just twice, and the VGK have likely hit their peak, and are aging.

Nylander is in the last year of his deal, and likely moves on to another team next year. Will that team be as good? Will he score as many points when he's not surrounded by Matthews and Marnier?

There is really no right answer. You're going to lose 4 good players no matter what. Personally, I would drop Miro, Eichel, Bennett, and Nylander.

ESPN fantasy so it's more goals assists offensive side of things

I still remember when Byram was supposed to be another Olli Juolevi bust. Now he's just not as good as Moritz Seider. We've come a long way.

Bangers league or scoring only? If it’s bangers Bennett is a good option otherwise I’d probably drop him, Miro, and Cozens. Svech is good to have due to lack of talent at the position.

What’s the best legal viewing option this season for Canadians? I see SN jacked up the price to $250. I think I paid $180 last year.
