Like I said, he's still a very good evaluator of talent. Even after a few stumbles at the draft he's still done incredibly well putting together that core as well as some supplemental talent.
But being a GM is more than just that--and Dorion has made a LOT of very bad calls. Again, that isn't all on him as Melnyk was the worst owner in hockey outside of Aquilini, but he has to own some of that. The Duchene trade didn't hurt as much as it could have, but it still lost them a 4th overall pick for nothing, He has yet to get it right with a coach and his moves to address the goaltending situation have been disastrous.
And FTR I never said he was "that shitty of a GM," I just said that overall, I think he's bad. I've also said I think the majority of NHL GMs are bad and even the best of them make some WTF moves now and again.
