I'm not a fan of scrubs taking runs in exhibition games but at the same time they are fighting for an AHL spot so they can't take it easy. This is why the best players play 1-2 exhibition games.

Wait so Cody Hodgson is back and crushed Mark Stone onto LTIR and got roasted for it? Preseason is better than the regular season for sure!

Man, you confused the hell outta me for a minute there. I was like, Stone got crushed by a 33-year-old who hasn't been on NHL ice since 2016 and had to retire because of a genetic disorder!?!?

I see now that it's HAYDEN Hodgson, whom I've never heard of.

Honestly I am probably the first guy to bitch about late, unnecessary hits, especially in a dumb friendly. That said, c'mon...it's not like his back was turned and while it was late, it wasn't egregious. Also, I didn't think the hit itself was THAT violent, he didn't target the head or explode upwards or use an elbow, etc. Even I of all people have to use the tired old phrase "Dude, keep your f***ing head up."

Stone has a legit gripe about all the guys targeting his back with well-placed cross checks in the playoffs--that was horseshit and the book should've been thrown at those players, and this is coming from someone who doesn't like Stone much at all. But this is just wet blanket bullshit.

New owner, new POHO, and a big time analytics hiring. Dorion will no longer have final say and the luxury of doing whatever he wants. That error, I mean era, might be coming to an end soon if they struggle at all.

To be fair, did Dorion really ever have the luxury of doing whatever he wants? I'm sure he enjoyed some autonomy but he also worked for one of the most erratic, meddlesome owners in sports. There may have been a sweet spot right about when Melnyk got too sick to mess with things and the family took over up until now, but I'm not sure.

That said, I'm not about to say that he wasn't to blame for the moves that have left entire omelets on their collective face, but that wasn't exactly a great boss he had.

Dorion still seems like a good draft/development guy (though a few of his picks the last couple years kinda leave me confused) but as a GM he was pretty bad, and I don't know if I've ever seen a front office guy get goaltending wrong as much as he has. Maybe Kenny Holland.

If Dorion is that shitty of a GM how come he managed to build that team and sign all those contracts?

Their whole very talented core is signed for their entire prime at a low cap hit...in an unattractive, small, Canadian market no less.

The Sens are in great shape going forward, they only have to get over the hump. Just like the Sabres.

If Dorian gets canned there are 31 teams that would benefit from having him in their organization. The Avs could really benefit from him in the drafting department.

I'm not saying it would be the right or wrong to fire him. He's done both good and bad things like all GMs and a new owner, new president of ops might want their own guy. That being said, if he is let go, I seriously doubt he will be out of work long...unless he feels like taking a break.

Like I said, he's still a very good evaluator of talent. Even after a few stumbles at the draft he's still done incredibly well putting together that core as well as some supplemental talent.

But being a GM is more than just that--and Dorion has made a LOT of very bad calls. Again, that isn't all on him as Melnyk was the worst owner in hockey outside of Aquilini, but he has to own some of that. The Duchene trade didn't hurt as much as it could have, but it still lost them a 4th overall pick for nothing, He has yet to get it right with a coach and his moves to address the goaltending situation have been disastrous.

And FTR I never said he was "that shitty of a GM," I just said that overall, I think he's bad. I've also said I think the majority of NHL GMs are bad and even the best of them make some WTF moves now and again.

I posted it before but under Melnyk Dorion was doing the job of 4 different people. Literally. The Habs have 4 different guys to do the multiple roles that Dorion has with the Sens. It's ridiculous.

I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes but I think overall he did pretty damn good with the cards that he was dealt. If he were to get fired tomorrow he'd leave a team in such great shape...a GM leaving a team like that is something that you never see elsewhere.

Yeah Dorian is an excellent GM. He's built a strong team in Ottawa.

Doubt he gets fired though, I think this year will be the start of a really strong run for the Sens over the next ~4-5 years until they start getting old.

Why legal? :naughty:

I just don't want to be bothered with looking for streams, then it possibly getting cut off during the game and looking for another one, worrying about quality, etc. I'd rather just pay and know exactly where the game will be every time and that I won't have issues.
