Andrew Shaw says that all of PK Subban's teammates hated him.

Noted good guy and definitely not victim blamer Andrew Shaw, isn't someone who's opinion I would hold very highly.

I'm trying to remember that name. He's either a fringe NHL journeyman or one of the heads of the five families.
You mean he wasn’t a superstar? Canucks fans in 11-13 assured me their random late round draft pick would be a steal and amazing. I probably shouldn’t make that joke though, glass houses and all

Why this guy has a voice makes no sense to me
Because he's good behind a mic. No different than the many other gimps out there covering other sports that were the same. Chris Simms sucked in the NFL, but is a mainstay on NBC's SNF coverage. Kirk Herbstreit was a nobody at Ohio State, but is the top analyst for ESPN's college football. Pat McAfee was a GD punter/KO specialist in the NFL, but is all over sports coverage as some kind of super analyst. I don't think Stephen A Smith ever played a sport.

Just because you weren't the best player doesn't mean you don't know the game or that you should be blackballed from talking about it.

Chill. No one said he should be blackballed. Also, it's debatable if he knows the game.

Biz doesn't even talk hockey at a high level. He brings appeal to fringe fans that want lame bells and whistles I could care less for

A doubt the average fan reads HFBoards or cares about aging core bell curves. Mainstream media wants people that can talk and entertain. Like someone else mentioned thats how you end up with Stephan A Smith and others screaming at the camera .

I think Chiclets is fun

What I appreciate about Biz is that he is able to actually engage with and draw Gretzky out of his shell a bit. Gretzky has gotten better on TV largely because of Paul. Not saying Wayne is good, but he's a lot better than when he first started.

[edit...It seems that the story is continuing to develop so I'll withhold my opinions on Paul for now, but I still think there is a tricky line for him to balance between being a bit of a crass hockey podcaster AND a broadcast journalist for TNT.]

Maybe it’s unfair to judge a person by their sartorial choices on national TV, but going on what he wore as an analyst during the playoffs and the goofy analysis he gave, he does seem an egg.

Also I am sure lots of people hated Shaw too hahaha

Biz is popular because he has actual personality and isn't afraid to express it in front of cameras, unlike 99% of his peers. He may not provide much valuable hockey insight, but he definitely makes those TNT broadcasts a whole lot more fun than they would be without him.
Can Charles Barkley just do double duty for TNT.

There’s a big chunk of the sports watching public that loves loud jackasses. How does Stephen A still have a high profile job? But look at studio guys in other sports like Charles Barkley and Kevin Millar, people like those obnoxious former players to make them feel smarter. And I’m sure they are encouraged by their networks as well, it’s a clown act.

Barkley is great.

Stephen A Smith is one of the most awful personalities in sports television. Don't know how anyone can watch/listen to him.
