As the organization goes back to work in an attempt to find a site in the East Valley for a privately funded, $2-plus billion arena and entertainment district, Coyotes president and CEO Xavier A. Gutierrez said Wednesday that the club has identified a half-dozen possibilities that are publicly, privately or tribally owned that would not require a public vote in order to reach an agreement.

“We’ve told (the NHL) that one of the things we want to avoid is a public referendum and everything that we’re looking at is hopefully to have this be something that would avoid that,” Gutierrez said.

Make no mistake, the pressure is on the Coyotes to find a permanent solution and quickly, especially with Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith waiting in the wings hoping to bring the NHL to Salt Lake City.

Commissioner Gary Bettman wants a concrete plan after Jan. 1, 2024, Gutierrez said, “and based on our timing, we believe that is going to be the right timeline.”

“We remain committed to finding a location in the Valley and in particular in … that Scottsdale-Phoenix-Mesa-Gilbert 101 corridor,” Gutierrez said. “We’re committed to still (having) a privately funded sports and entertainment district with all of the uses. We still want to put our money where our mouth is and build something that’ll be best in class.”

The East Valley is ideal because that’s where the population, corporate and homeownership growth is in Phoenix, not to mention, Gutierrez said, “where our fan base is.”

Does LA even get better acquiring Dubois?

Forty-year-old fat guy angry about passing on a Russian kid stuck in Russia, tells Austrian kid he's Hitler.
It's nuts, everyone following the team should have known that Michkov was on the Habs no draft list, it wasn't a surprise.

People here were saying he didn't suck

I don't really understand why Detroit is doing this. Yes, the buyout is cheap but they have plenty of capspace (they are under the cap floor as it stands). Why not take a flyer at him?

Most fans don't follow that closely... they just hear a name that has been tossed around the Russian greats getting passed over for a kid they have never heard about. And humanity is very gross at times.

Yamamoto isn't the worst hockey player, but he's far from good. People see the stats and see middle 6 guy. What isn't taken enough into account there is in the past 3 years, he's only spent 680 minutes away from one or both of McDavid or Drai and the offense dries completely up. He's not a player I'd really want on a NHL team. AAAA sort of player to me and would be an elite AHL guy.

There are plenty of "not good" players on this league. Not all of them have been scoring at 0.5PPG pace consistently through their career.
.5 as an offense only player playing next to McDrai isn’t that impressive.

That’s basically Newhook scoring 5 more points a season playing with Mack and Mikko.

We all knew on this board that Habs were going to draft David, but I still see it as a reach and when you factor that in with the fans and them passing over Michkov, who received a ton of hype in the last week or two entering the draft, this makes sort of sense. I mean, still big-time awful stuff and I wouldn't be surprised if some death threats were thrown in there, but I think the Hab fans had built up rage from the Kotkaniemi selection as well, which did not sit too well with the fanbase. Very weird to go after the lad than the organisation, but I gotta admit that I am not surprised by this.
