It doesn't help that the HHoF committee is also guys looking to get their buddies/people they know on a personal level into the Hall.

Honestly I don't know if the Hall of Fame should have more than 100 players in it right now. As it stands there are 293 not including the class that was just announced.

How else will they have the ability to name the 100 greatest players and then snub Geno in favour of Toews if they only let 100 people into the HHOF?

Are there any sports Hall of Fames that aren't a glorified who is friends with who? And what does it matter? Based on a quick google search something like 3.8% of all NHL players ever are in the Hall. That seems like a fine percentage to me.

Well, based on a similar quick search it's around 1 % for the MLB and the NFL. The NBA and the NHL are around 3 %. Obviously hockey and basketball have less players playing at once. I'd prefer 1 % for the NHL, too, but that ship sailed.

I understand the position of the small hall crowd, I just happen to completely disagree with it.

I think the best way to honor the game is by telling its story. And the best way to do that is through telling the stories of its players. The more players, the more stories, the greater the glory!!

Kidding aside, I'm fine with the Hall of the Very, Very, Very Good. I'm still not sure Kevin Lowe would be in my Hall, but Claude Lemiuex would get some consideration.

I don't know why they would be when the team is just selling merch and stuff.

Because many of their experiences are being shunned or made fun of in some way during organized sports. Or worse like harassment or assault in many cases. Which in turn makes them not want to play sports.

The jerseys during warmups are just a gesture that they ARE welcome. That's all. Just a nice gesture to people who don't always feel welcome. Trying to counter that feeling that nobody should have.

Canceling the warmup jerseys because a mob doesn't like that message, sends a message of its own. The wrong one.

people complain too much. the hall is fine, they need to keep adding some players every year to keep the show going afterall. and if it was up to me, the hall would have Bordeleau, Laus, Marchment, Odjick and the likes.

Hawking t-shirts.

They sell jerseys that help lift people up and make them feel welcome in the sport. They also sell and make players wear jerseys that look like this.

How come we're upset with the former and not what these are hawking?

I'm not upset in the least. Buy merch for things you want to support, but don't think they support you back because they let you give them $45.

My reply to this got deleted along with other posts, but since this was left up, I think it's important to point out that we shouldn't have to require support back, in order to help people.

Feels too transactional and tribal. I've never bought a pride jersey, but if someone bought a hockey fights cancer jersey, there wouldn't be an expectation of support back. It's just about doing right by people. That's all I'll say on the matter.

Where are we talking about the awards voting? MacKinnon and Rantanen not even getting second team all star votes is ridiculous.
