Beauty of a guy and impressive ability to ignore the loudest woman I have ever heard

After banner raising night, that was the most exciting game I’ve ever been to. Literally surrounded by Seattle fans wearing a Roy jersey loudly cheering too

If caufield keeps developing that deal is gonna be a steal
It will be an interesting one... he looks every bit like a future 50g guy, but could stall a bit to a 40g guy. 40g is easily worth that deal. The issue with Caufiled is that he adds literally nothing else beyond goals. Is that a player you tab as a core guy like this deal indicates? That is an interesting debate IMO.

I think his pure goal production is well worth the contract that they just signed him to. I think the question for Montreal is whether he can develop more and stay healthy, if he can it's a great deal for the Habs. If he just ends up being a goal scorer with intermittent injuries, that's a great contract and security for Caufield. I was really hoping he'd drop to the Avs during that draft, he'd add a much needed element to this team.

He sells tickets and jerseys so he's worth it for the Habs no matter what...fans love him. As a core guy you have to have him well surrounded. Suzuki is a good center for him.

I'm not saying he's not worth the contract or that he's a bad player at all (I actually think he's a fantastic player)... just it is a weird spot to be in. Not an ideal core guy due to his faults, but his skill is the rarest skill in hockey.

I think my post was a poorly worded version of "I agree with you". I think it's one of those situations where there's a chance that contract could sway drastically towards being a steal for the team, or being a great contract for the player depending on what happens.

I will be an instant fan of whichever NHL team Roy end up in. I love that guy. Hopefully his second time around in the NHL goes better for him (aka he ditches the man to man defense).
I think it needs to be a team where he is basically GM + coach. Don't think he will last long when other people are making those roster decisions.

I'm still curious to know what he would've done if that's what ended up happening with the Avs. Some of the additions he seemed to want (big, slow, defensive defensemen) hampered the team, but some of the things he was rumoured to have in the works (Duchene for Zibanejad and Chabot) would've been really interesting.

Imagine being a Rangers fan and getting the exciting tease of getting Roy as a coach and then ending up with Hynes! Haha

Actually once the Avs window closes and the future looks dark I want Roy back with the Avs so bad because at least it will be fun

Dis you? ;)

I'd prefer Roy with the Sens, but Roy in NYC would be a huge coup marketing wise.
Probably the best coach if they plan on keeping Laf, too. He knows him pretty well.

But yea Sens would be better.

I'd say the Rangers in general as built pretty much how Roy prefers. Physical players with good motors up and down the lineup (especially on the defensive side with Schneider, Trouba and Lindgren), some real high skill players, and an elite goalie. I think he could get the most out of Lafs and Kakko too. Now how he meshes with Panarin would be a huge concern of mine. Maybe it opens up... likely ends with Panarin and Roy having a public spat.

Oh man. Losing Cronin could suck a lot.
On the flip, he might be the perfect guy for Anaheim. They have a plethora of great young forward talent that just need to be molded... and toolsy, but raw defensemen. Given his ability to refine players, he should be able to get the most out of the defensive prospects they have and allow the high end guys up front to flourish.

Trying to steer conversation right here between the threads.

Oh I think he's the perfect hire for Anaheim. I think the Eagles are losing a fantastic coach though.

Wow! nice to see new names get hired, hope the Eagles can recover and keep rocking and rolling.

Does Anaheim have to give Colorado a 1st round pick for compensation? :sarcasm:
