Yup... Boise of all the places probably has the biggest point. That place has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. In the end, it is just a way for people to complain about migration and change, they just label it to California. Boise is pretty legit... if you like smaller cities that you can still escape, hard to beat it. I'll admit, it might be getting a bit too big for me... pushing a million in the metro area by the end of the decade isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

I'd 100% be behind Pueblo turning into Colorado's Monterey instead of being Colorado's Bakersfield.

Got a very bad vibe when we tried to camp at Bakersfield.. also didn't enjoy Pueblo that much. Monterey was great though! Definitely got your reference!

 Your metro area has a larger population than my state...by over a quarter million.

My complaints about Kroenke are limited to how they deal with facilities. The practice arena should have been done in 2019 and each time they update on it, they keep saying how it is out of their hands and point to the whole River Mile and adjacent projects that need done. It is a pure copout and ploy to move forward with a huge real estate project instead of giving the players what they really need. If the practice facility was a real priority, it would have been done a long time ago... and they could still put the shovels in the ground basically immediately if they wanted. This is a pattern for them.

Pretty much everything else, they stay out of the way and give enough of a budget.
The problem I have with the practice facility is its location being potentially in Denver. I know where some of the past Avs players lived and a good chuck did not live in the city limits. The younger players yes, but most with families lived around the suburbs. The traffic on I25 around the Sante Fe onramp northbound is no joke and is always brutal every single day, every single time, and it doesn't clear up until you're well on the north side of Denver.

Wanting to put it right in the heart of Auraria Parkway is just stupid. Oh, brilliant for Kroenke and his plan, but just stupid for players having to get up earlier due to the brutal traffic and practice almost every single day at 7-8 am or whenever it starts. Not that Family Sports Centre is in a good spot either because it most definitely isn't. Where DU is located is where the practice facility should probably be, a good balance between being close to the city, but not really having all the negative traffic which is I25 loop around Denver. Yes the traffic around DU is horrible too, but that is more around rush hour and more around Friday afternoons. The problem with that location is there isn't any space, so Kroenke's plan is either his location or put it in a more suburban neighbourhood.

Whaaatttt you didn't enjoy Pueblo :sarcasm: jk to anyone who lives in Pueblo.

But seriously Pueblo sucks.
I had a buddy who went to school there...for some weird reason. It's like he bypassed CU, CSU, all the schools in Denver, all the schools in the Springs, and all the schools in the mountains and decided to go to...Pueblo.

Maybe he just liked the sound of the name? How many other English words start with a "pweh" sound?

Scary to think how good this team could be with a better owner. We’ll always fight that Denver isn’t a premier destination particularly for guys in their 20s (no matter how much guys love it later when they have families) but making a name for themselves as one of the best organizations for how they treat the players off the ice could go a long way
I couldn't agree more. The practise facilities are low level. Something they must improve.

Ya Travis Green seems to be a match up early with anyone at the dance rather than be left standing alone situation

I don’t really fault a team like Ottawa for making a move like this

Traffic is horrible everywhere along the Front Range from Colorado Springs all the way to Fort Collins. I live in Castle Rock, and it's awful here. Takes me 10-15 min just to drive the 3 miles from where I live in The Meadows across I -25 to Home Depot or Target. It routinely takes me 45 min to an hour to get to downtown Denver from here, and it's like 30 miles. Add in bad weather and it could take an hour and a half. My wife works at UCHeath in Aurora, and it takes her an hour to an hour and a half to drive home every day (mornings aren't as bad cause she leaves here by 6 am).

There are players who live all over the metro area, from the Cherry Creek area, to Downtown Denver, to up in the foothills west of 470, to the Parker area, etc. It doesn't matter where they put it, it's gonna suck to drive there. Putting all their facilities together in one area makes it more convenient for everyone, IMO. I just wish they'd get their shit in gear and get it built. South Suburban has been out dated for years. I believe I read a few months ago, that the Avs were only one of three teams that hadn't updated their practice facilities in the last 5-10 years.
