It was pointed out to me that the Flyers have had the worst goaltending in the league by a healthy margin in the second half of the season or so. That’s primarily the reason they’ve imploded so badly down the stretch.

This has to be pretty disheartening though. To get hopes up the way they did and then faceplant right at the end of the season, and at a time when so many other Eastern teams were making it pretty easy to retain a playoff spot…that’s gotta suck.

At least management didn’t do anything overtly stupid. They still sold off their biggest trade chip and got a good return.

I'd be a little surprised they'd skip expansion for SLC... maybe Fertitta has some cold feet?

The sooner the NHL can get Ryan Smith into the league, the better it'll be. The NHL could really use a younger guy with some fresh and varied perspective pushing the league forward. And when Cooper eventually leaves Tampa... he's 100% coaching in SLC.
