Makes sense. Throwing punches to the back of a guy's head who's already turtling can't be happening. But at the same time it's also bullshit. This never happens if the refs would have done their job properly. That crew should at the very least get some of their playoff opportunities taken away.
And that’s on the refs. When they failed to call Cousins for that egregious hit, they not only failed to enforce a basic rule meant to keep players safe, they basically put Cousins in jeopardy of retaliation.

I swear, I think I am watching Tron with these Dallas jerseys, or they need a full EDM concert intermission, and a game against us with highlighter jerseys too, but with the lights turned down a bit.

Now that would be fun, NHL get on EDM themed games right now lol. We can move from drinking our way through intermissions to magic mushrooms. Much healthier I'm sure.

Just saying..

I think there is some disconnect, but I honestly think more of the issue is Bednar being very stubborn on style of play. The guys the Avs locked into with term were perfect fits for Bednar's system. Wood and Colton play the way Bednar loves. Bednar's stubbornness/inability (I don't know which) to adjust the system to make players like Tatar and RyJo fit is a hurting the team. Along with that instead of even trying, he's basically given up. I get and agree that roles should be earned at a fundamental level... just early in the season with a soft schedule, this is the time to work through things to get them to work. Not basically bench the 2nd line.

Love him, but Bednar's stubborn shit works both for and against him sometimes.

I'd say that is an early declaration. He's playing better now, but players go on hot streaks all the time. Along with that though, Drouin needs to produce. He's not a defensive guy, not a physical guy, not a PK guy. His role is going to be offense, and that hasn't been there yet. Even in this stretch he's played well in, he has just 2 points in his last 7 games where both of those came in one game. In his last 13 games, he has 5 points while only scoring in 3 games. If you include the prior two games where he scored points... he has 7 in 15 with points in 5 games. That's a ~38 point pace coming over ~33% of the games. That's not nearly a consistent enough of an impact for me to consider it a success. Maybe unfair a bit to put so much on production, but that's what he's brought here to do.

We give RyJo (deservedly mind you) a lot of shit for his 5v5 production... but he's got 5 points (4G 1A) and Drouin has just 6 points (2G 4A). That's kinda a wash.

One of them is 1$, the other 4$, I think I'd take the f***in latte over Ryjo rN lol.

But yes, I still think burying him isn't the answer, and there is production there to be had vs none like we're gonna get playing him this way.

Sabres hosed the jackets in that Robinson trade! ;)

He was the missing piece all along!

Funny enough, people keep saying the Sabres need to get tougher, but the real element Robinson brings is his speed. It's possible between Krebs, Jost, Fatty, etc. that the Sabres were just a tad too slow up front.

How much you wanna bet Vegas did this exact same thing with Stone last year and the "back injury" he's managed to play through most of his career?

Probably just sent them a doctors note saying his back was sore and that was enough.

At some point I'm sure every single player in the NHL is playing through something. Yeah there's some fudging involved for sure, but Stone definitely has an absolutely wrecked back.

I just wish the Avs could do some of this same stuff, hopefully they can with Landeskog come postseason.

I don’t see the issue there. Tootoo was playing through a shoulder issue and didn’t think moving his family and playing in the AHL was worth it at his age. Gets and MRI and his shoulder worked on and stops playing.

Also the Stone situation is no different than the Landy one no? Don‘t see anyone say the Avs are cheating.

every team in the league likely has players requiring some sort of surgery at all times in a season. The teams with more financial prowess will continue to take advantage of this LTIR/playoffs loophole. Especially since the vetting process we were assured of is obviously a complete joke.
