Calgary is playing with that "don't give up" attitude they had a few years back when they lead the league with a shit pile of 3rd period comebacks and then win it in OT or the SO.

But with a loss tonight, we can breeze by them sooner.

Seems that way. All the fans (and Eric Francis') whining about bad luck with "one goal games" seems to have been heard by the hockey Gords. Let's hope that tonight is the start of the end of that

At least that season they had more actual offensive talent. Don't think this team has the horses to keep up that horseshoe shit, but it is the fLames, so who knows?

He looks drunk on those last couple Flamers goals. What a putrid game. Like amateur hour out there. Both teams being bad enough to lose. Thankfully no loser pts tonight, suck it Flames.

Whats the deal in Calgary anyway. They gave up on thier season at 20 game mark? I don't get why they expedited the Zadorov move and to a divisional opponent. Stupid on so many levels.
I don't get it either, they're exceeding expectations and Markstrom has been giving them a chance to win more often than not most starts. But, I think the easiest thing to suggest is he wore out his welcome after he called the team out and said he wanted out right after.

Better for both situations to cut the cord sooner than later.

Who am I to blame somebody for not wanting to be a Calgary flake? hehe

Oh well, can't stand the player regardless. But again stupid to deal to same division.

On the subject of Around the League generally, could somebody please beat the living crap out of every single person on those f***ing Rybelsus commercials we have to sit through when watching hockey? I cannot handle these idiots anymore.

Wanted a Calgary win so they never rebuild proper. Dont mind this mediocre version of them that will never go anywhere. They stay like this, we’ll be stomping them for many years to come.

Just an idiotic trade, compounding it that it was to a division rival.

Just when you thought you cannot hate CGY more. Now these idiots will move Tanev and help Toronto out.

Maybe they thought Zhadorov was so bad, he could actually "help" them by playing for a rival. Stay tuned.

So why did we have like a full week off at this time of the year? schedule seems silly, just when we are on a roll we don;t play for a week?

Don't all teams get a "bye" week at some point during the season anyways?

Then there's a 9 day all-star break thrown in too from Jan 28th to Feb 5th.

Kings-AV's was quite a game. Next level better than the pretenders Nucks vs Flames last night.

AV's tired so Kings speed bagged them all game and took over with complete domination in 3rd.

Kings a scary bunch. Not only did they add a power forward in PLD they added a better one in Quinton Byfield, having his coming out party, who is a monster player at age 21 that could dominate for the next decade. The Byfield story this season probably the biggest and was again in this game. So hard to play against and strong on the puck in traffic areas.

Kings are textbook running youth. Putting Byfield with Kopitar and Kempe. He's caught up now. This is a top scoring line but could be the best 200ft line in the league.

Yah they look great. Must be nice to have a prospect turn into an NHL player.

Byfield was 2nd overall… hardly a surprise that he would work out.

Some of this board was calling him a bust last season.

Still nice to have a prospect turn out… 2nd overall or not. Some solid guys drafted after him as well so I’m sure there is some relief there.

The players are forcing a Calgary rebuild. They're all pending UFAs who want out now that they know the team isn't going to win.

In a weird way the Flames might be entering the perfect storm of factors that will lead to decisions that will be attractive to people that hate the Flames.

All at the same time:

- They are moderately competitive and could feasibly make the playoffs

- A good number of key players want out or are unlikely to re-sign no matter what

- Ownership demands no rebuild and are still chasing the dragon

Because of this, Flames will likely either:

- Attempt to remain "competitive" by giving a blank cheque to some of the UFAs to keep them around

- Seek "hockey trade" type assets in return rather than pure futures, a la the Toffoli for Sharagovich deal while ignoring that a team looking to buy a rental probably isn't very interested in moving actual quality assets playing now in return

Either of these options ensure the Flames are mediocre at the very best forever.

From when he was drafted there were lots that followed him that said he'd take some time before hitting his stride in the NHL.

Guy was a man child in Junior that could do whatever he wanted. Was going to need some time to adapt and it appears he's good to go now.
