5-0 Knights

I know SJ is on a back to back, but god they looked like a tough opponent at times yesterday lol
Watched the game, It was similar except for goaltending. Vegas get it, we don't. Skinner didn't make many tough stops with game close whereas Vegas got multiple great saves from Hill with the scoreline still 2-0. The final score is different than most of the game. Vegas hard as they worked didnt put the game out of reach until 3rd and in fairness Sharks were out of gas.

Another difference is multiple of the Vegas shots were snipes. Filthy hitting corner stuff. Really great shots. Really well executed plays. Even a guy like Carrier makes a float perfect pass to Stone in the slot.

You watch Vegas and every player has a purpose, a reason to be there. Top couple Centers injured, no problem, other guys just take it on and don't miss a beat.

Some knob in Vegas telecast is saying Oilers and Kraken don't have a chance of making the playoffs and that Vancouver and Anaheim are guaranteed.

No rational, no reason, just went with those takes.

Could be one expansion club fan pissing on another, Seattle.

That said I haven't been watching the ducks, is the duck still behind the bench?

So on consecutive nights I've watched the Sharks (In neither case the team I'm interested in seeing) and in both games the Sharks, the worst team in the league, somehow have a 1,2 goalie both that are better in net than anything we have. Both making very good stops and keeping the Sharks in the game the last couple nights.

The Oilers exist in hockey mad Alberta. Would it be impossible to find a sleeper somewhere? Kings had terrible goaltending last season and then just signed some kid from Alaska and he was actually better than their #1. They just found him. Then they found Korpisalo, then they got Talbot.

The Oilers are just "Oh Skinner had such a great rookie season, we don't need anybody" I thought it was overrated always.

Just to get away from the Oilers problems and focus on the other Canadian team that is having a defense/goaltending collapse crisis, thought it'd be interesting to see the Leafs realize a month into a season that signing an aging 35+ year old 4th line enforcer to a 3 year contract wasn't a great idea.

Even the Oilers game against Nashville where they blew the out required great goaltending from Campbell. By far his best game of the season. I know there was a poster on here that said the Nashville 3rd period onslaught should be expected given the large lead the Oilers had, but I'm telling you, if Soupy wasn't at the top of his game, it would have made it very uncomfortably close at the end. Anyhow, it was his finest and last moment in the sun this year. Too bad. But it was the one notable game I can remember this season where our goalie outplayed the other guy.

Reaves is absolute garbage. The Laffers obviously thought he would make them tougher to play against, but they are finding out that he really doesn't make anyone tougher, especially in a league that penalizes you if you breathe on someone the wrong way. And even if he makes it on the final playoff roster, how much will he play? Maybe 3 minutes a night, while other 4th line tough guys are able to go 10 minutes of valuable ice time.

And speaking of more useless from Treveling, bring in Klingon and expecting him to solve your defence issues is coming back to bite him big time. He is what he is, a soft giveaway machine who brings some offence but bleeds chances and goals the other way. Hmm, kind of sounds like someone we have.

In fairness to Klingberg, he used to be quite a good defenseman both ways. His game has just been in freefall as he ages.

Bet he regrets not taking that 60+ million dollar contract that Dallas offered him a couple of years ago though.

Too many GM's get stuck in the bad habit of paying players for what they once were and not what they are.

Canucks diving team with their standard SIX PP’s after 40 minutes. Carry on, nothing to see here.

I posted in the off-season about Michael Carcone being a possible add to the Oilers bottom six. Saw him real good at the World Championships. He’s small, but there’s no quit whatsoever in that guy’s game. And he has a great shot. I watched all those games and I would say he was largely responsible for turning that tournament around for Canada while star players like Toffoli were practically invisible.

Two goals for him tonight in the Coyotes win to take his total to six on the year. Good for him.

True. Many GMs hope that it isn't the player aging out that was the issue, they hope it was something about the fit on the team that was the issue. This is team #3 where Klingberg looks like arse though. I'm wondering how much better the Dallas system made him look than he actually was, ha ha.

Bedard on pace for 56 goals. He might actually be better than McDavid. (not based on this year but his early years)

Such a strange year all around.

You can't even find McDavid on the scoring leader list unless you have a Cray supercomputer to go that far down.

Matthews started his career with a 4 goal game.
