Damn, the Oilers broke the Flames twice.
1) BOA playoffs
2) Heritage classic

I'll repeat once again - how on earth did nobody recognize this as a problem in the summer?

Anyone that watched any Flame hockey last season could see that Toffoli was the heartbeat of their offence. He gets traded and it's met with a shoulder shrug because the coach being nice now is more important or something.
Yep. No one even really mentioned losing Toffoli when they were talking about the Flames in the off season. It’s weird because he was by far their best player.

They successfully managed to convince Flames fans (and some Oiler ones) / media that the issue wasn’t lack of skill but it was all because of a mean coach. Quite incredible work actually.

If Kadri is “the guy” you probably aren’t scoring many goals.

They also had a lot of success pushing the "it's just bad luck! Hit a lot of posts! OT losses! Outshooting teams!" narrative as well.

Was listening to 32 Thoughts and Friedman basically questioned their identity. Good or bad, the Flames have always had a crop of physical, grinding energy players over the last 20 years. Now they don't and they just kind of float around as a result. If you don't have scoring players you better have physical energy players. Now they have neither.

It's a god damn shame that they didn't pull the trigger on Hanifin and/or Lindholm deals earlier. Hopefully they win a game or two this week to get back onside of the concept of keeping the band together.

Someone should report the Kings to the league. They clearly don't know it's illegal to play young players.

Byfield with 6 points in 9 games...Kaliyev with 5 in 7...

That shot is nasty.

I wonder what it would take to have our team play like that. Maybe it's just not in the identity of our players
If we played like them, we will go far. It takes buy in from everybody

Just like Mac T got stoll and Torres to buy in in 2006

Never mind catching Vegas, will we even be able to catch the Canucks and Kings? They are both on fire this season.

Maybe a wild card spot is what we should be aiming for at this point.
