This is straight up not-so-friendly fire at his own teammates lol:

“Last season was different,” Zadorov said. “It was Darryl. Now there’s no Darryl, so there’s no excuses. You know what I mean? You guys don’t like hard coaches? You don’t like soft coaches? You don’t like good coaches? Fair. It’s a new-day league. You come up here, you play hard, and you leave everything on the ice. I think that’s how simple it is.”

Dude looks like a caveman and he’s kind of a dummy but he’s also not a bad D man. Would have been nice if they had the cap to poach him

Very interesting to see what's going to happen with Pinto. Rumors 41 game suspension for sports wagering.

Although it'll be very interesting to find out when this happened, as how does a guy without a contract get suspended for gambling?

Edit: Official 41 games and he may have to sign his QO to begin serving suspension. Seems kinda messed up if true

How can the league force a player and a team to sign a contract?

Say this was a lessor RFA that the Sens replaced in the off-season and didn't want the guy anymore. Should they be forced to sign him?

What if the qualifying offer was a lot more and the team simply didn't have cap room for him when he returns, forcing them to trade someone?

No one is getting forced to sign anything though?

There was a rumor he might be forced to sign his QO offer.

Although Freideman now saying the suspension starts from game 1 of the Ottawa senators season and doesn't matter if he's signed or not.
New owner gets a bone thrown to him for inflating every other owner's net worth. If it were the Oilers in this situation, they would be told that suspension clock didn't start until they signed the player. Which would force them to incur the cap hit while the player served his 41-game suspension (and give Calgary a 3rd round pick).

I don't even know if the NHL or any league has ever thought about a guy without a contract getting caught gambling

Interesting. League loves making special exceptions for special teams.
Lol it gets better. The league waived the Dec 1st deadline for signing a guy.

Don't forget they went back to rescinding instigator suspensions (Tkachuk) right after telling Nurse and the Oilers last playoffs that "rules are rules"

If he's not betting on NHL games then this is ridiculous.

Half the NHL is probably eligible to be suspended for 41 games if this is the case.

League that promotes and shoves gambling down everyone’s throats, suspends player for gambling. Bad boy. Not that I wish it, but would be comical if a bunch of superstars were caught gambling, and said they were too tempted due to the constant gambling ads everywhere they go. I’m sad for the player in this case, but not for the league.

Kinda dumb but I’m sure he knew the rules.

Accused of rape? Pending investigation.
Hockey Canada investigation? Ongoing.

Shane Pinto bets on a game? 41 game suspension.

I’m sure if they end up getting found guilty of rape their suspension will be a lot longer than 41 games…

Apparently Pinto was involved in the decision. Sounds like they've been talking about it for awhile.

Probably more talk with the NHL on this than the Sens on his contract earlier.

Not understanding the League's decision to de-centralize the draft. I get the cost savings involved but big picture this is a league high profile marketing initiative as a traveling road show each year to one of its consortia partner's home markets.

The NHL crying about cost through in an era of record revenue, expansion fees and franchise sale seems incongruent. Though with the CBA expiring in 2026 maybe this is part of their battle lines to engage in labour discussions with a players union on the rise with its new leadership.

Criminal investigation versus breach of league rules. Though firewall rules with prospective existential threat to the integrity of the core business if ever game results were manipulated by player, coach or referee influence for personal enrichment. The league however cannot control an external criminal investigation and cannot operate on innuendo. They are apples and bananas scenarios.

Pretty much every single decision the league makes is cost/revenue related, with zero consideration given to the fan experience. Just add another item to the list that will slowly nickel and dime long time fans away from the game. Death by 1,000 cuts as Chia once said.
