Remember when Jack Hughes was the biggest bust after his first two years. Devils hit a homerun with this kid. Goodness he's becoming an absolute stud.

that's actually a really, really stupid precedent to set

receiving a pass is no longer considered possession if you don't handle it again?

i guess it's stupid of me to think they'll follow a precedent they set though..
I agree. I've seen similar goals where a player should have been ruled to be "in control" of the puck but, because they weren't actively touching it, it wasn't considered possession.

They've already decided to stick with this one a few times this year and it's awful.

They really need to overhaul the concept of offsides from a 'spirit of the rule' standpoint because right now the reviews are making htem sticklers for things that don't actually affect the play and stifle offense, all because a bad night from some lineys saw Duchene scoring a goal like 300 feet offsides once.

This Senators-Kraken game has been pretty damn fun, I've actually been pretty impressed with the Kraken. Beniers has made a huge difference for them.

It went from that, to the farce we see today. One game you have control and it's onside , the next game you have 50 pct control avoiding a broken stick and its offside.

I think people need to decide whether they want refs to manage the game or not.

It's the robot umps discussion but kinda worse. Do you want it perfect, or do you want it relatively right with a human element?

Egregious offisides that actually affect the play are usually called in real time, linesmen are by and large fantastic. these hair splitting 'well his blade was 2 in offsides and he didn't touch the puck but a goal was scored 45s later' is not the 'intent' of the rule imo.

I like video reviews in general for direct scoring plays like interference and high stick but it should not be a thing for offsides.

The ducks are so bad my god

There is no leadership there. Its all about getting their pointz and just forgetting about the defense.I watched a few minutes on thr nhl network, and none of their centers would go below the dots, all would hang near the top or the blueline to go on offense. Zegras cherry picked 3 straight shifts, got scored on twice. The Bruins ate them alive and scored a touchdown.

They really need someone to step up and rein in the clownery

Zegras calling Frederic a f***ing bitch and then hiding is going to get someone killed, much like the Troy Terry incident last year

Like with Drew, there's a line of confidence and arrogance in your own abilities and FOR your team, but there's a line you cross when you're disrespecting the opponent with NO intent to fight your own battles.

Frederic and Marchand were ready to turn him into a smoothie.

I blame the introduction of video and instant replay. No going back though.

What's ironic is if you truly are confident in your own abilities, you really have no reason to disrespect your opponents. It happens with a lot of young stars, unfortunately. You can bet that for all of Zegras' offensive skills, it probably bothers him that he is on the ice for so many goals against. The smack talk just makes you feel better about your own shortcomings.

It fired up the Bruins, obviously. He'll learn.
