Pretty heartbreaking to read this article.

Really crummy of Phoenix to draft him despite knowing all of this and now Boston for not doing the background needed.

What a shit show for the victim to have to re-live all of this over again.

The whole situation is ridiculous to me, but Boston baffles me beyond reason. Like, they knew exactly what they were getting into... His actions were heinous, no one would ever condone them, and virtually no one would have ever signed him. It boggles my mind that they would sign him in the first place, but also that they would backpedal so hard like it was a mistake. At this point, you signed the kid, both reputations are tarnished in this transaction, sure it is the right thing in a sense, but not really because the right thing would have been not signing him in the first place. At that point, if you're Boston, you know you are trash and what you did, you might as well own it and ice the kid... I mean, I don't want to see the kid on NHL ice, but apparently, they did and signed him. It blows my mind that they are now like, Uh we didn't know...

Calgary loses again.

In regulation.

Thought Calgary outplayed New Jersey last night, especially without Huberdeau available.

It was funny, Nikita Zadorov was having a great game against us. I kept thinking to myself "Where's the old Zadorov who puts himself out of position to make a big hit" and thankfully that guy showed up in the third.

Undoubtedly there was at least one person in Boston championing the kid and pushing for that signing. Hopefully that person is preparing a resume at the moment, because that is about as piss poor a choice a scout could make.
My guess is the scout's job would be to determine whether the player has NHL potential. It's up to the management to do the due diligence on what kind of effect making this kind of signing would have.

As for the kid, lot of blame need to be placed on the adults (Arizona management, Bruins management, agent, the parents).
He's got an agent that's apparently making up stories, or not being completely honest about them.
It might be a different story if he wasn't already drafted and released before. Everybody knew about the history.
This is still a kid there should have been more done by the adults.
And even the mother of the kid who was bullied, how does she not know her kid was being bullied for years? Especially if he's a special needs kid?
Where were Miller's parents to make him give a proper apology? The Miller parent should have apologized to the kid's parents for raising a bully and that probably would have been that.
I feel bad for both of them because it seems both of their parents were negligent during their childhoods.

I feel Miller has legally paid his dues and deserves another chance, but adults are f-ing this up for him.

Isaiah's letter in response is pretty damning.

imho Miller's agent's career should be in jeopardy over his interview on Cam & Strick.

Can't believe the Bruins went this route.

Alas, how many times does a talented player get chances us "normal folk" never get?

On SDPN they said one of Miller's accomplices, who also bullied Isaiah, and went to court for it as well, has been completely forgiven by the family. The family feels this other kid was genuine in his apology and such.

Which makes Mitchel look even worse, because Isaiah and his parents have shown they're willing to forgive.

Miller deserves all the shit he is getting - and more. The whole second chance thing seems like an excuse here. You get second chances after taking responsibility, suffering the consequences of your actions and showing growth from the episide.

Seems like an awful lot of people who have done awful things think that they can skip that whole process and move straight into that freebie second chance just because a period of time has passed. Glad Miller had to endure this again, and it doesn't bother me one bit that he might have had hopes of being a pro hockey player dashed for a second time.

and he was still pestering the poor kid just as recently as a few weeks ago. Entitled little prick. f-him

Someone thought it was a good idea, then the GM signed off on it, then he took it back when the heat got too hot.

The one thing I'll say for Miller, is I get the impression he had a really poor upbringing.

Had you done to Isaiah what Miller did, and your parents found out about it, how would your parents have reacted?

My parents would have been extremely harsh and punitive towards me. And they certainly would've made sure I made up for it some how.

By all accounts Mitchel's parents thought it was no big deal, and never really forced him into face-to-face apology or anything. They had a "Sorry about that. Boy will be boys" attitude towards it.

Happens all the time. There’s a degree of shame that goes with being bullied and not telling parents is frequent. Him being special needs doesn’t mean he wouldn’t hide it. Also if he’s special needs he may not interpret it as bullying when he’s younger in particular as there’s often a different developmental learning curve there. It’s very naive to think it’s that simple.

Yup. SDP did a very articulate and thourough breakdown of this story, just as they were following the Kyle Beach scandal and ensuing Blackhawks chaos. I encourage everyone to give it a listen. Ignore the LFR YouTube bullshit, Steve and friend’s podcast is top tier.

In my opinion, Miller had a second chance, and that chance was a genuine apology at any point from the time this all happened to a couple weeks ago.

I think the other thing that bothers me about the whole Miller thing is that he's not this can't miss prospect so I don't get why people in management fight for this kid. Whatever his hockey ability is certainly does not make up for all the shit he's done over the years. He's just not worth it.

Not absolving Miller at all - red flags are going off that he's a legit sociopath. He needs to get help.

Ducks were walking them for a bit in the 2nd, but go figure, after getting that Zegras goal called off, the guy who should be suspended finally ended the Wild's no-goals-in-8-periods streak on a soft call on the PP. wonder if Evason will cry about the refs tonight.

f*** the Wild.
