Don't know the spot for this but it needs s a shoutout.

Hockey Canada CEO scott smith ousted. The board of directors resigned.

This is all due to the scandals they have mishandled with expert aplomb. They solved nothing!!!!

Still waiting for action on McLeod and his cohorts. How long is the foot dragging going to last.

Git 'er dun!

With the supposed cooperation they are getting from the players on the team I would be surprised if they do not have at least the basic interviews done by now. It's what, 20 guys? Get their statements and texts and go back to clear up any inconsistencies. They should have a pretty good idea of what happened unless there are no texts and every single one of them develops amnesia including the victim. This isn't civil litigation where nonsense has to be dignified with a response. The truth actually matters here.

Given the news a few weeks ago that the cap increase might jump up earlier than expected, it's actually a really low risk signing. If he's a top-4 D, $4.3 will be a great deal. If he ends up being a $5/6, those guys are probably going to be getting paid $2.5-3 anyway if the cap starts to approach $100 million, so he wouldn't even be that much overpaid by the end of it.

Eh, Buffalo is betting on the rising cap, the fact that young players are typically pretty tradable and if worst comes to worst, cheaper to buy out >26.
That’s a little long for me, particularly since he’s LHD, as are Dahlen and Power, but they’re pairing him with Dahlen right now. I guess they see that as a lasting pair, he should be able to build up value on that pair if they later needed to move him.

The only problem Buffalo faces here is that they can’t lock up everyone up but I assume they have a plan there. It’s much better than randomly nickel and diming RFAs like Reinhart.

yeah 4.25 isnt going to bust their cap even if the kid flames out. im sure he would at least be a serviceable bottom pair guy and what do they get paid so thats the real comparable. definitely worth the gamble if you ask me

Nice to see AJ Greer in the opening night roster for the Bruins. Not sure how long it lasts since there are some forwards missing due to injuries but glad he is getting an opportunity after last season.

I wouldn't have signed that contract, probably. LOT of term for a guy with very little track record.

But it's not franchise killing, or anything.

I don't really see how Samuelsson would be able to garner much more even if they waited out the season. Do they think he's gonna score 40 points or something?

I think it's partially belief he will improve (reasonable) and eagerness to build a team and get out of the rebuild phase with some long term commitments if players are willing to make them.

I think it could easily go sour, as I said on the main board Zaitsev and Matheson were similar deals off ELCs, but really the only long term deals to young players that went south I can recall.

Stefan Matteau has a Stanley Cup ring.

He played 3:39 for the Avalanche last season.

Da fuq?

Did the Lightning give Scott Wedgewood one for being on their taxi squad in the 2020 playoffs? All I remember is him skating out onto the ice in his jersey and gear on. He didn't play a single game for the NHL Lightning that year, playoffs or otherwise, but every team has a taxi squad/reserve list of guys that they use for the playoffs that sticks around to stay ready, just in case. And he was one of those guys, as he played for their AHL team that year.

Marino was just forced out of Pitts because he had a long term contract signed and then had a down year. There are also older players on long term deals like John Moore who hung around doing nothing while collecting a paycheck.
