Yeah I feel like the Atlantic spots will be set in stone pretty early, huge gaps have already formed between each position

It's December and we know that Tampa is who we get in round 1 lol

Great, 4 months of trying to cripple each other every time we see them.

Is the NHL playing roughly 1450 more games to see if Edmonton, Vancouver or NYI can sneak into a playoff berth?

With 55% of the season left they only have 2 more against Boston and don’t play Tampa again until the last week of the season in what‘s shaping up to be a meaningless game

Just had a look at the standings and omg Edmonton is currently out of a playoff spot?

:laugh::nod::thumbu::popcorn:

Wonder if their fans are gonna complain about McDavid not winning the MVP with 155+ points if they're not even top 8 in their conference. [MOD]

Imagine being in your 8th NHL season and youre pacing for 150+ points nearly 50% into the season and you're not even in a playoff spot.

The amount of f*** ups that need to happen to make that a reality...

Their drafting in the first round is just so garbage.

2021 they pick Bourgault, the pick after was Wyatt Johnston who is in the NHL right now.
2020 they pick Holloway. Picks just shortly after that are already playin prominent roles in the nhl - Mercer, Guhle, Schneider.
2019 they pick Broberg. Right after went zegras, others they passed on were Knight, Boldy, Caufield
2018 they pick Bouchard, 2 picks later Dobson is off the board...
2017 they pick Yamamoto. 4 picks later Oettinger is off the board...

Imagine the oilers having Oettinger, Dobson, Boldy/Caufield, Guhle instead of what they picked

I've read Trohpy tracker on nhl.com and 2nd in MVP voting was Pasta.

Pasta - 0 chance of winning MVP, leading number one team in NHL.
McDavid - basically lock to win MVP leading oilers...

Playing team defense, focusing on goals against /winning games? All that decreases your goals/point totals /shortens summer and killing your Hart chances,

Can we get one award that reflects bit of context?

155+ points, wish we have award for most point...he'll be first player to win Conn Smythe Trophy without reaching play offs.

Obviously no one can match McDavid's greatness in all facets of life. The NHL should simply award him every trophy at the beginning of the season, with teams competing for them. The league, no, the world of sports, will never see another athlete possess such superiority.

In all seriousness, f*** McDavid. He's overrated, a diver, and his team is hot garbage. He shouldn't quality for any award if the Oilers miss the playoffs.

Incredible breakdown. You forgot to mention 2016 when they took Poolparty over Tkachuk.

Hey, at least they can take comfort in knowing Jack Campbell is locked up for another 4 years :sarcasm:
