There's always that one surprise NHL team. The success story we don't see coming.

They've gone from missing the playoffs -- usually by a sizable margin -- to beginning the following season so well that it forces an inevitable question: Are they for real?

This season's Cinderella turn has belonged to the Seattle Kraken.

Let's face it: The Kraken's inaugural 2021-22 season was marred by constant defeat. Seattle never crested past .500 after playing their second game, endured at least six separate streaks with four or more losses and fielded criticism about their expansion draft strategy.

Well, the Kraken are back to issue a rebuttal.

Seattle went into this season's holiday break sitting third in the Pacific Division with a 18-10-4 record and a .625 points percentage.

Seattle is not a playoff threat at all. Had a hot streak to start the season and have been back to their old last year selves since then. They got no goalies, Jones had a hot streak which coincides with their decent start but now he has worse stats than Grubauer. They'll likely never will be a playoff threat with the goalies they have.

True but even in the early days of Babs, Matthews, and Marner there were plenty of the usual suspects (Simmons,Cox and all the high profile national guys) taking potshots and criticizing. I hear nothing but platitudes for the Habs, yet when I watch their games I see a lot. It appears to my nonprofessional eye that MSL is just letting thevplayers do what ever they want, blowing zones and very little structure. No cautionary warnings from the scribes just praise.
