After giving up 3 goals to Vancouver he shut the door ended up making 33 saves on 36 shots with .917 sv% + holding Oilers in it until McDavid came to the rescue with a hattrick to finish with Oilers winning 5-3.

McDavid being just a wee bit selfish should help get him 5 to 8 extra goals alone. Far too many times he has a great lane or angle for a shot, and instead looks to make the perfect pass.

AVs are a great team. They’ll be fine against good teams with those forwards.

I'd say his top gear is highest.

The other thing about the flawed Oilers, is you know they do not taking losing easily.

If he doesn't show up it's probably because he's injured. Then again Draisaitl in last year's playoffs was playing on one leg. His reply to the question about playing injured, paraphrased "You have to be more creative."

One thing that stands out when watching the West Coast games following a Leafs game, is that the speed and pace of play always seems much faster than when the Leafs play. Games involving the Oilers, Flames, Canucks and Avalanche for example make Leaf games look like they are at .75 speed.

Keep in mind this was game one for all the teams and players.

JT Miller was ineffective most of the game. Looked like a 3rd. liner.

Quninton Hughes would be easily the best at his position on the Leafs.
Kuzmenko would easily fit top 6 on Leafs.
Petterssen apparently got bigger, and stronger, no longer a boy I suppose.

One thing that stands out when watching the West Coast games following a Leafs game, is that the speed and pace of play always seems much faster than when the Leafs play. Games involving the Oilers, Flames, Canucks and Avalanche for example make Leaf games look like they are at .75 speed.

I was flipping between the canes game, the bruins game, and the Leafs game and the other games had more pace.

Florida and Ilse game is intriguing as they could be in a battle for a playoff in the end.
