I think Dubas focused on skills too much. Gourde, Point, Marchessault got skills and IQs, but they also can rough it up and play the game, not afraid on going to the net and got a good shot.

Point's an elite superstar absolutely, but in terms of that GM sleeper pick Dubas always seemed to be trying to hit on, I think it's that Marchessault, Gourde level guy he was always looking for. Evan Rodrigues is also one of those guys he's sniffed around on, who is meh.

Point was 3rd round. If Dubas and Hunter were around for that draft, Leafs might had picked up Point. But the Marleau factor will still be there.

Pretty much this and they never really hit on any mid tier guy very well.

That's why they need to trade 1 core four guy and round the team out better.

The mid tier guys make 5 million now. Rarely do you find guys that will hit when you only have 1 or 2 million to play with.

I hear the argument a lot that you couldn't of predicted flat cap etc... fair enough but it happened and during all those years and up until now this team has never made it far.

Just my opinion but I'm done with this core 4 bullshit. They need to reallocate the money given out. It's a Leaf on the front of the jersey first.

I hope with some of these contracts coming up these guys will finally get it but I doubt it.
