Tarasov might be their guy.

His AHL stats are pretty terrible and his NHL stats this past season was terrible as well. He did have 4 good NHL games in 21-22.

It seems like a pretty bad gamble to me. Probably a better chance Merzlikins bounces back.

Need someone like Adan Hill. ;)

Just turned 27.
When you build a Dcore like CBJ is you will have goaltenders lining up and begging to play behind it.

Adan Hill barely needs to make a save with that Redwood Forest Vegas has on defense that Florida can barely break through to get good scoring chances on. You don't need a Ken Dryden in net when you have a Larry Robinson, Guy Lapointe and Serge Savard blocking out the sun in front of you. :)

Like you said earlier CBJ is going to have an experienced veteran coach that has lead Team Canada loaded defense to wins in the past that is top 10 in coaching wins. As of June 2023, he is the only coach to gain entry to the Triple Gold Club (Stanley Cup title, IIHF World Championship title, and Olympic gold medal in men's ice hockey).

During his professional coaching tenure from 1991–2019, Babcock's teams missed the post-season only four times in 28 years.

I bet Matt Murray could play behind that defense core, hope CBJ GM Jarmo Kekäläinen comes calling as Brad Treliving will be listening. :wg:

It’s an impressive collection of defensemen, name recognition and draft rank but you never know.
Oh, I know much like Luke Schenn previoulsy their new Dman played for the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL. Kelowna is a Dman factor. :wg:

Just ask Shea Weber, Duncan Keith, Josh Morrissey, Tyson Barrie, Tyler Myers, Luke Schenn, Sheldon Souray, Scott Hannon, Josh Gorges etc etc.

They are building from the net out and you can never go wrong with good goaltending and big, strong, mobile D.
I hope that’s the way we go. Then more blue collar skilled forwards.

they can afford to lose a D man for the C they need..........

How many RD do you need? Provorov, Severson, Peeke, Jiricek, Boqvist, Gudbranson…

Columbus fans believe both Peeke and Boqvist get moved. Peeke didn’t have the best year last year, but previously was on a very good trajectory.

I'm sure Babcock appreciates that his GM didn't go out and get Justin Holl, lol

Given all this movement CLB is doing for Vets I wonder if they are fielding calls for the #3 pick.
Doubt it. All these moves work out perfectly with them having that 3rd pick because Fantilli and Carlsson are both #1C which is what they desperately need. They could possibly use next years first rounder and 1 of those defencemen that have become expandable and whatever else to go after Hellebuyck or a Soros or whatever starting goalie is on the market.

No matter how high level of prospects they are not many 18 year olds are actual #1C as a rookie.

Columbus looks like they want to win now I wouldn't be surprised if they trade it to get a sure thing.

They still got Jenner who is gonna play all the tough minutes so makes the rookies transition to the NHL much easier not having to worry about that. Possibly having Gaudreau and Laine on your wings doesn't hurt either.

I watched all NJ games when Jagr was there, Severson was always one of my favorites.

Didn't really reach the potential many predicted, but I would like to see him here. He got a mean shot, big body, and can jump on offense when needed.

edit: I'm a moron he is already here, I missed it. :D great signing :D
