We’ll see if tonight’s result holds but if it does we can safely conclude that Florida’s improbable run was all Bobrovsky + shoddy officiating that only now has decided to find their whistles.

Marchessault always seemed to make plays against the Leafs during his season with Florida, which was the year he matured as an NHL player. Just perfect timing for the Vegas expansion draft.

Marchessault (and Gourde) seem like the kind of player our previous GM spent a lot of effort trying to find over the years. But what's interesting is it isn't necessarily intelligence or skill alone that makes the difference, though they have a lot of that... it's a real scrappy, f u energy that sets these kind of guys apart from your friendly neighborhood water bug. Guys like Kerfoot, Johnsson, Barabanov, Petan, Malgin, etc. they just didn't have it. Moore and Grundstrom maybe a little scrappier. If Robertson ever makes it he'll have to find that "prove them wrong" kind of approach.

I think Dubas focused on skills too much. Gourde, Point, Marchessault got skills and IQs, but they also can rough it up and play the game, not afraid on going to the net and got a good shot.
 
The league is a joke. How can they call that, esp with 11 secs left!?

if it is a Leaf player who got tripped, I am certain there would be no call.
