Took Matthew 3-4 playoff runs to get it. Our guys, it's 7 playoffs and counting.

View attachment 711043

It only took him 3-4 because he missed the playoffs.

Heck even this year the only reason he is in now is a 3rd string goalie and Pittsburgh choking to a team actively trying to Lose.

If he was that clutch…. Why did his team miss the playoffs?

I am talking clutch in playoffs. B2B 100+ points seasons are not clutch enough for you? Probably finishes 3 for the Art Ross due to 60+ goal seasons by McDavid and Pasta.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Craig Conroy is a serious contender to become the Calgary Flames new GM.

Friedman says we will all find out which direction the Calgary Flames are going regarding the GM search by early next week.

???? Why would only the playoffs matter? Do teams just luck in to the playoffs? Are they not trying to make it?

He choked multiple times to get into the playoffs…. That is a worse failure than losing in the first round.

You do get that right?

f*** PPG. Marner showed it means nothing. None of our guys has put their team on their backs in 7 attempts like MT has done these playoffs. None !!! If one had, your stick boy might still have a job.

Yes, we hope one of them can do it for us. Question is how long do you keep running the same guys back thinking this will be the year one does it ??
The core 4 does not have the DNA to play winning playoff hockey. The closest to having that DNA is Willy. The rest of them are not going to all of a sudden get this urge to get crosschecked in front of the net to get a goal. They want the pretty play. That is why they are sitting at home right now.

Tkackuk is a different animal...We cannot compare our guys to a player who is a prick. Look at video of Crosby hitting O'Reilly in the nuts...watch video of Ovie crushing people and tell me that our guys have that in them...I'll wait.

Yes, not making the playoffs is worse than losing in round 1 in most cases, but it is a team game, so if you want to blame MT for the Flames not making the playoffs, have at it.

I'm not sure how you can credit Tkachuk for team successes in the playoffs, even when it's their goalie carrying them there, and simultaneously absolve him of blame for the team failure to qualify for the playoffs.

Ok does the standard not apply to Toronto stars?

Bob is making 10.5m. Pretty sure Panthers expected this level of play. Imagine what could have been if Dubas picked up Bob @ 50% instead of Murray @ 25%, a 3rd and a 7th. Game changing move Dubas could never make.

Anyway yes, the rest of the Panthers have stepped up but MT is their leader and is pulling the cart. I still laugh when I think about some of the comments on this board about Bennett after he asked out of Calgary. Now he and Tkachuk are two games away from the SCF while Kyle is updating his resume and our stars are teeing off as we speak or enjoying their cottages. Such a shame.

Best GSAx/60 in a single playoffs, 8+ GP
(since 2009 playoffs, when the stat started being tracked)

1. Bobrovsky 2023: +1.336 through 12 GP
2. Hiller 2009: +1.183 through 13 GP
3. Vasilevsky 2021: +1.149 through 23 GP
4. Hellebuyck 2021: +1.105 through 8 GP
5. Smith 2012: +1.046 through 16 GP
6. Price 2020: +0.951 through 10 GP
7. Shesterkin 2022: +0.945 through 20 GP
8. Lehner 2019: +0.815 through 8 GP
9. Korpisalo 2020: +0.801 through 9 GP
10. Hart 2020: +0.782 through 14 GP

Will be interesting to see how long Bobrovsky can maintain this. Now up to the 5th highest total playoff GSAx over the same timeframe, and climbing.

Tough decision, i.e. guaranteeing Matthews doesn't leave for nothing.

The Triple Doubles leave a bad taste in your mouth after every end season buffet.

Nobody could make that move, because Florida wasn't going to retain 5m+ on Bobrovsky for the next 4 years, much less to a divisional rival after a good year.
This level of play from Bobrovsky is beyond what anybody can expect or anything he's done before.
If Dubas had signed Bobrovsky to that contract, he would have been torn to shreds.
It's great that he's fluked into a crazy hot run at the perfect time, but you're usually not getting this from him.

Bobrovsky is the one most pulling the cart. Barkov is their captain. Tkachuk is however the leader in point totals on this run, at pretty much the same pace Marner had.
I still laugh when I think about some of the comments on this board about Bennett after he asked out of Calgary.
Those comments weren't from me, but I wonder if you were laughing last year when Bennet had 1 goal and 3 points in 10 games, and Florida got swept.

Yes I was not referring to you. Something was not right with that Florida team last year and it is why they dumped the coach, Hubbie and Weager. Bennett had been one to show up for the Flames in the playoffs. It was one of the reasons many wanted him.

I really didn't want to watch hockey after that loss for the Leafs but I've been keeping up alright.

This Dallas vs Vegas series could go the distance. It's been pretty entertaining.

I've liked it more than the other series with that other f***ing Cinderella team... yeah I'm bitter.
