The CEO and entire board are out at hockey Canada.
Smith, Hockey Canada board of directors stepping down

Finally should have happened months ago
About time. Embarassing stuff.

Agree, about time, and embarrassing is correct. It shouldn't have taken this degree of pressure from governments, provincial bodies and sponsors... just no self-awareness. It's a start, keep the house cleaning going.

It's pretty pathetic.

Even if there was an argument that what they did wasn't that bad (to be clear, it WAS that bad), their ridiculous response to the situation proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that what happened was that bad AND that they were entirely incompetent in being able to deal with it properly.

Hockey canada or what ever they call this organization in the future has to be an open book. They cannot be a closed association .
They need to teach these young players that because you are an elite players doesn't mean you get away with anything.
Because hockey canada has created ian cole and ect. There first response to young players should be RESPECT and that if you do not respect the rules we set . You won't be apart of any international events no matter how good you are.

It was really bad and embarrassing from the start.
Not only they allowed it to happen (during those tournaments), they tried to sweep it under the carpet and hide it.

I never ran or organize National Youth Teams, but I did coach and manage U18 Clubs teams(rugby and soccer). All of us(coaches and managers) knew what the boys were up to all the time. We knew what they wanted to do, and we restricted them from doing them. I can't believe all the coaches, trainers and managers were not aware of what's went on during those tournaments.

Then should also punish the Habs for drafting that player last year.
The message being sent out by Hockey Canada and Hockey in general is, as long as the player got talents, they can get away with anything.

Obviously Cirelli is missing, but overall, I feel like they are taking a big step back depth wise.

Depends on if Hagel can step up to be the top 6 producer they traded for and if Paul can continue his success there.

Fortunately for them Vasi in net can make them still near elite in the standings

As fun as it is to shit on the Habs current position, I've gotta admit, I think we will be changing our tune after this year.

The 2023 draft is so stacked 1-3...they will have a very bright future soon. My hope is that they end up around 5 or 6, but looking at that D, I think they are a lock for the top 3.

I mean, even if they drafted 6th, they could end up with guys who I would take over Slafkovsky. Very good year to be bad.

They’ll be loaded up front but will have big questions on the back end and in net. That can be a huge hit to a promising rebuild if not addressed properly

Nobody said Pittsburgh. They're old and this may be their last kick at the can.
Any team with Crosby and Malkin can go fairly deep but I just don't see how they can keep up to a team like Colorado even if they somehow got through the east which I don't think they will.

It’s not automatic that it’s Colorado is the team that will come out of the west. They are definitely the best team on that side on paper but it’s often not the best team that makes it through.

True... it was more of just an example. Just saying I don't think Pittsburgh will make it far either way.

I still can't quite get my head around them giving $8.5m to a dman like Sergachev who was just OK despite playing in a heavily sheltered role behind Hedman McDonagh and Cernak who absorbed all the tough matchups.

Helluva gamble.
