It wouldn't take much to beat their current arena.

The London Knights have double the capacity of the Mullet Coyotes. A junior player would have more pro ready facilities getting sent down to the OHL than playing pro hockey in Arizona.

The London Knights as a franchise would probably drive more HRR than the Coyotes. And we’re still playing this skyrocketing ticket prices, revenue sharing, flat cap game and COVID debt.

Bettman economics works for no one.

No brainer.

Is a team that hugely underperformed with their best d-man gone for most of the year.

Is there an easier team to look good with?

Houston ultimately makes the most sense, they actually had a pretty great grassroots level support for their AHL team when they had it, it had great attendance. It also makes a lot more sense in terms of television, markets and division organization.

If Arizona in loses the team, hopefully their youth hockey program isn't horribly affected. We've got Matthews and Knies so far from it. Would be a shame if it collapsed

That can be overcome, and look at Rangers, Islanders, Devils ... I think that's just a handy excuse that doesn't pass the sniff test.

Now if you want to use the Americans don't want another Canadian team, I'll grant you that.

Honestly, I think the Leafs would be the biggest opposition. In this case. You would see a pretty massive public relations campaign against the move, considering two massive media conglomerants own the Leafs. They won't want any competition if they can avoid it.

Tage Thompson is another Arizona guy. They've definitely have had some nice talent come out of there recently, just a shame it seems like it couldnt get the proper support from the people they needed.

This makes more sense to me than Houston, for the simple fact that I believe Houston will be in the next wave of expansion (lots of expansion $$$ up for grabs there).

That SLC arena is built for basketball, and the end zones look ridiculous in a hockey configuration. Okay for the AHL or ECHL, but imo the NHL should not be playing in any arena not designed for NHL sized ice. Scotiabank arena is on the edge of what should be considered acceptable.

Is there even a hockey market in Utah? One plus is that it would not affect the divisional alignments.

Would Portland, OR be a better choice? I think they already have a rink? No corporate base there I guess?

I think if they ever had a competent ownership group, they probably could have made it work in some form. I mean their arena choices alone seemed to have set them up for disaster

Which one would be the first to sell their shares, to own outright?
