Damn. Now I'm sad again.
I feel for those that genuinely do care.

So much about Phoenix's run in the NHL has been botched, but there are still genuine diehard fans who may be losing their hometown team.

It seems like a dream job to play in Arizona so I don't blame them for being upset at potentially moving. That team worked hard despite being one of the worst assembled teams I've ever seen though.

I think they finally got the brass right this time around and have great young pieces but the ownership though…

Which cities have an NHL ready arena?

""

Dreger suggests that the new owners of the Phoenix Suns might be interested in partnering with the Coyotes to build a new arena, but that seems speculative. He seems to be indicating Salt Lake City as a potential front runner. Mentions Houston, Atlanta, Kansas City and Quebec as other options.. That would keep Houston and Atlanta available as big money expansion possibilities.

What’s interesting is the Yotes board seems to be blaming Bettman and the NHL…

For false hope that Arizona would support a NHL team?

Toronto makes the most sense for a move.

They could play in Hamilton until a new arena is built.

It can handle 17k-19k fans, compared to a college arena of 5k.

If the NHL is okay with Coyotes playing 3-4 years in a college arena, 3 years with 3.5 times the capacity shouldn't raise an eyebrow.

The leafs and the league IMO won't allow a second team still.

There isn't anywhere to play in Hamilton, until the 2025/26 season. It's under reconstruction. The Bulldogs will be playing in Brantford until then.

Only need a 5k arena right?

That can be overcome, and look at Rangers, Islanders, Devils ... I think that's just a handy excuse that doesn't pass the sniff test.
I'm not in tune with a lot of things no more but I do know the MLSE would welcome it infront but internally not be happy with all the potential cuts they would have to face.

The other factor that plays in here is that the parties that interested to bring it here in that instances is looking at the potential purchase of the Senators and would quickly have to move front immediately.

Next one is as long as Bettman reigns, he will try to expand the market in the South before up north. Quebec was close but if I recall correctly they didn't have the best laid out plan post the first 5 years or so and as well the dynamic behind the arena was flip flopping a lot. Considering all that I would think it's unlikely

My guess there would be a premium paid to MLSE, but I don't think there'd be a shortage of suitors.

1/3 the Toronto market is likely greater than 100% of the Ottawa market.

Houston seems like the most likely, and logical candidate to me. They fit neatly into the current divisions, creates a Tx rivalry... Of course I'd love a Hamilton/Toronto/Quebec team, but I don't see that in Bettman's NHL.

It would be nice to see it in a hockey market.

So, you're likely correct, it'll be in Bettman wishful thinking market.

Maybe, they could find something in Mexico City?

I always thought Toronto II was such a far fetched idea even during all the Dark Ages.

With the apathy and kind of dead end feeling setting into the Leafs situation, a Toronto II would feel like such a compelling alternative with fresh storylines and personalities. They wouldn’t have my fandom… but I’d probably watch them a little like Seattle. First out of curiosity and then just form a habit. Weird times for the Leafs.

Only 14000 seats for hockey.
sounds like the Winnipeg jets then.

Salt Lake has hockey fans already and plans on building a new Hockey rink for Winter Olympics bid. It wouldn't be such a bad idea to get into that market for the NHL with the growing population there
