MOVE THE FRANCHISE, YOU f***ING DICK!
He will. It’s such a big market with tons of potential so I see why they wanted make it work.MOVE THE FRANCHISE, YOU f***ING DICK!
They've always struggled with attendance though. Their best years attendance wise were the years Gretzky coached the team.He will. It’s such a big market with tons of potential so I see why they wanted make it work.
True, but if you can model the Braves stadium and surrounding area you have a fighting chance. They've always struggled with attendance though. Their best years attendance wise were the years Gretzky coached the team.
Or maybe putting a team in Arizona is the wrong move from the beginning. And now the League is doubling and tripling down while making the local people the villains for not using their tax dollars for a stadium. IF the owners and team can't afford to build a stadium, they really should not be there in the first place.True, but if you can model the Braves stadium and surrounding area you have a fighting chance.
I put Atlanta teams just below Montreal in terms of teams I dislike, but if I was a youngan’ in Atl Id live up there.
Pretty sure it was being privately funded.Gees, I wonder why taxpayers would ever say no to use their tax money on a Sports arena in order to keep the Sports team in town instead of spending the same money on stuff like health care, education, roads....
Phoenix is a huge market and putting a team there makes perfect sense. In the US tax payers build stadiums for NFL and MLB so why not an nhl team.Or maybe putting a team in Arizona is the wrong move from the beginning. Then why do they need a public vote? I really don't know the details, thats why I am asking questions.Pretty sure it was being privately funded.
The diff would be fans. NFL and MLB are American Sports which American loves. Hockey is not.Phoenix is a huge market and putting a team there makes perfect sense. In the US tax payers build stadiums for NFL and MLB so why not an nhl team.
It wasn’t only an NHL arena it was multipurpose facility and entertainment district.
I haven’t followed closely, but I think the biggest hurdle was cleaning up a landfill and then building the facilities without the approval of the unions.
When it came to moving Canadian teams to the US, no. And not really for cross-US moves, either.Has the NHL ever fought this hard before to try and keep a franchise somewhere?
Yes, Phoenix is a huge market. But at the same time, it's the wrong market for this sport; hockey is a winter sport, and Arizona is mostly desert.Phoenix is a huge market and putting a team there makes perfect sense. In the US tax payers build stadiums for NFL and MLB so why not an nhl team.

Exactly. The nhl doesn’t compete with those sports. The diff would be fans. NFL and MLB are American Sports which American loves. Hockey is not.
as is Vegas…..When it came to moving Canadian teams to the US, no. And not really for cross-US moves, either.

HS football and baseball is part of our culture, it’s a part of almost every community in the country.
as is Vegas…..
Vegas is not a typical American city.Vegas is TBD, even if they win the Cup this year. Bc 10 yrs down the line, they might face the same problems as Arizona. Vegas's advantage is the Stadium is on the strip and right next to MGM(I think thats the hotel), plus they can always partner up with hotels to do package deals for tickets.
I agree and thats the difference between Arizona and Vegas. Whats work in Vegas would not work in Arizona. Thats why i don't think Arizona should even have a teamVegas is not a typical American city.
ECHL - Utah GrizzliesWho plays in that rink in Salt Lake City? AHL?
I’ve never been there. But from what I’ve heard you would be correct. Lol.Vegas is not a typical American city.
remediation of the toxic chemicals on the land right now is taxpayer funded plus zoning and general NIMBYismThen why do they need a public vote? I really don't know the details, thats why I am asking questions.
I see, thanks.remediation of the toxic chemicals on the land right now is taxpayer funded plus zoning and general NIMBYism
