You dont think its absurd that it took the leafs 7 tries to win a round?

Sure it is….. but comparing NJD a team that missed the playoffs 10 of 11 years to Toronto is even more absurd.
Missing the playoffs 10 of 11 years is way worse than making it 6 times and losing.

It’s not even remotely debatable.

Bottom line is hockey is an absurd sport.
Toronto could get pumped in 4 straight. Who knows tonight? But looking at the past history

Toronto was the better team against Tampa/Columbus/Montreal easily. Multiple chances to close out the series and the goalies went nuts.
Multiple posts. Insane saves.

Of all the series Toronto should have lost this one. A dribbler goes in off a skate. That easily could have happened against Montreal. They had like 15 shots in Ot in game 6….. would that have somehow been better? If they won 2 years ago and lost this year?

Washington was a post away from going down 3-0
The year they won the cup. St. Louis called up a 5th string goalie who played for the bruins on loan who beat them in the finals.

Hockey is an absurd sport. Just have the same standards for everyone

Lol buddy, im just saying its funny how NJ makes it in and wins a round so quickly and we've been waiting so long

No one is comparing processes, rebuilds, the last decade or whatever else shit you were talking about

Exactly. I've stopped overanalyzing hockey. It's a dumb sport with way too many factors to accurately predict the outcome.

What other sport routinely has the 8th seed defeating the 1st seed like it's nothing? A Stanley Cup winning goal could go off someone's ass when that team is outshot like 50-20.

All I am glad about is that they finally won a round and I can watch the playoffs like a normal person without thinking the worst every single time the Leafs play because nothing good ever happens to them.

Whats absurd is icing the same team year after year while denying toughness being a factor in the playoffs until this TDD. Surprise, surprise the leafs pass the first round.

Tbh I’m glad the Rangers are out, if the leafs make it to the third round and had to face a veteran team with Shesterkin it could’ve been extremely frustrating.

The devils have speed and skill but they’re quite young still.

Shesterkin was the only remaining guy who I think posed the risk of "goalieing" the Leafs. I'm not particularly worried about any of the other goalies in the East now he's gone.

Also felt the Rags fans were getting a bit overly smug (like their Bruins counterparts) so always nice to see them finished off
