Caps are done:

“Washington also suffered another big loss as defensemen Dmitry Orlov suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and did not return. The Capitals are now down eight skaters, with Orlov joining Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Wilson, T.J. Oshie, Connor Brown, Carl Hagelin, Beck Malenstyn and John Carlson on the shelf.”

Looking at underlying numbers this season, there are more than a few big surprises:

Notable teams xGF% with last seasons in brackets:

1. Devils (16)
6. Leafs (2)
12. Flames (1)
17. Lightning (10)
23. Avs (9)

Just threw the Leafs in there to show they are a fundamentally sound team with a low PDO atm. The goaltending injury situation is certainly concerning though. (what else is new right?)

The Devils are just a crazy story right now as they are first by a mile and its quite the turnaround from last season.....plus they have a super low PDO too!!

Bolts and Avs are hoping their goaltending/finishing ability makes up for their overall drop in dominance from last season and the Flames are really feeling the blowup of one of the top 3 lines in hockey last season but probably should be given time to adjust.

The police report for the Miller crap. Again be warned it is very disturbing.

Sorry how is this legal? He was a minor. Not defending what happened or didn’t but aren’t youth records sealed in the states?

In Canada this would never be allowed out.

I think it becomes public records after a certain period in the states. No clue tbh from the states law/legal stance. It's all in the bruins thread and all.

So, perhaps they need another depth player.
From what was reported Leafs checked around the league for Aube-Kubel, and it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest Capitals expressed interest, and Dubas said he didn't want a contract back.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leafs don't have others available as well. They could have waived one of several players.

What is going with the flames?

If you listened to some of the broadcast, the thought is Huberdeau is trying too hard to justify his contract.

Last night on one of their powerplays they made a point of showing Kadri going for a low percentage shot only a short distance away from Lindholm who was open in his prime shooting position.

Looks like they are still working on team building.

It was a major change to their attack.

Give them some time to figure out their lines.

I haven't seen any games of late but ok that makes sense

Legit dont know if its real or not but i had to share.

Canucks blew a 3-0 lead lol. Bad day for Canadian teams sans the Leafs.

EDIT: Whoops, nevermind, the Jets played as well and won, so not a total Canadian team 0-fer except the Leafs. Goes to show how little I think about Winnipeg.
Was at that game and it was a tale of two teams.
Preds is bad, like really bad. Nucks got some bounces early and took the lead. But then Preds just exposed their Defence.
Horvat skating over the puck in the shootout was one of those, I really have not seen it moment

Sounds like the Bruins terminated the Mitchell Miller contract, realizing how poorly it reflected on their whole organization.

And a big topic from last off-season was trying to trade for John Gibson .. some pretty rough numbers to start his year:

4.58 GAA .883 SV%

On that note Panthers give up 2 goals in 30 seconds to allow Anaheim to tie the game at 2 midway through

A couple of interesting starts from guys who signed big extensions in the off-season:

Kyrou - 3 goals, 0 assist in 9 games .. is a -15

Barzal - 0 goals in 12 games but has 11 assists
Didn’t sign an extension, but RoR has 1 goal, 0 assists in 9 games and is -12. Kind of shocking start to the year for him.

Say what you want about the Miller situation, I still can't believe Boston re-made the mistake that Arizona already made.

I hate the Bruins but I always respected them. This just makes me wonder if their management is feeling okay.

What a completely unnecessary mess to make while the team is on an absolute tear.
