With the stakes so high, how could Nazem Kadri’s engine run so low last night?
Disengaged as part of a season-long adjustment to his new coach, his two egregious giveaways led to a loss to Chicago the Flames are unlikely to recover from.
My take:

Eric Francis

The problem is with the viewers not with Kadri. I have been assured that he’s an elite defensive forward with the exact type of Killer Instinct (TM) that this team is missing. Flukes like this game or the Game 7 Kirivanta hat trick game are just illusions that uninformed fans fall for.

Even with where Pittsburgh sits right now. Looking at the schedule... Florida probably has the worst one ending against Leafs and Carolina.

It'll be interesting to see what happens but it could very well still end up as Isles and Pitts getting in. Ideally Isles against Boston because I think they'd actually have a chance with their type of game.

The problem is I don't think Isles could outscore Boston.

I think Sorokin is good enough to steal the series. And if not at least good enough to push it to 7. He’s having that kind of year. Plus with the Islanders play style they’ll take a physical toll on Boston.

Not trying to count chickens before they hatch wrt a second round series, just in the interest of both Boston and NYI losing and taking damage.

No... more just wondering with Boston having their confidence at an all time high next to winning the Cup if they may falter this year. Cheering for Sorokin really. He would have to play unreal.

Always thinking they'll fall off a cliff and they don't. It'd be nice to see them lose really bad for once.

Also....

Go Rangers tonight up 3-1 after the first. Keep it up.

If we were in the 1v8 set up we'd probably be playing NYR in round 1. Would you guys prefer them or Tampa?
tough call for sure, both good teams, Tampa has that winning pedigree, but the Rangers are dangerous, id say Tampa just because I want to see Coopers smugness get knocked down a peg, and revenge for last year lol

Rangers are 5th in the conference. NYI are 8th in the conference.

Nate Schmidt with 2 breakaways in 7 seconds while shorthanded

That has to be a record for a D lol
Pretty good game, I remember now how I much I dislike the Jets, not too fond of Calgary either. But Winnipeg has a lot of dbagish guys led by Dubois always posing and getting super tough when the officials are in the middle

yes but if were going by the old 1-8 format the leafs are 4th, rangers 5th so we would be playing them in the first round

Hope Rangers can hang on to win this one but looking back at the goals tonight.... Vali looked pretty shit on a couple of them after getting first star of the week.

Too many Goalies are voodoo
Look at all the goalies that would be considered locks to be #1's going into the year.

Demko was injured, then struggled
Markstrom has been poor
Sorokin has been great but his team is fighting like hell to get in.
Soros is going to miss
Hellybuck is in a dog fight.
Vasy seems to have righted the ship

The best goalie has been a Buffalo castoff.

No rhyme or reason predicting how a goalie is going to perform

I think Calgary is up there as well led by Andersson. Sutter has everyone hacking and whacking

Both teams are very easy to dislike
