NHL.com is definitely paying ESLers $1.10/ to write for their website which already runs shitty.

Spot the error.

This league is so pathetic that they reference NFL teams in their own publications

I don’t even care about that shit - but I find it odious that instead of paying someone $20/ to do things properly, it’s better to get eleven people do sort of do it kinda properly for $1.20/.

Better to exploit people in a third world country than to pay someone competent here to do it, because…Colonialism? I guess?

We’ve all seen how well their site loads - now compare it to the other leagues, it’s bush as hell.

The NHL having two franchises with the same nickname unfortunately isn't its only problem. They apparently also have two teams tied for second place in the Metropolitan Division. It seems as though the team in first place isn't even in a playoff spot right now either!

Well deserved to say the least. From walking into a tough situation when he replaced Roy in Aug 2016 to winning the cup last year.

And now his team is challenging for another Western conference title despite all the major injuries

Who cares, we got Keefe...11F 7D ftw, right? :sarcasm:

I saw something interesting while looking at the standings earlier. I noticed the Leafs have only won 50% of their games in regulation time. I thought, wow, that sucks!

Then I looked at the other playoff bound teams and realized that as of last nights games only 2 teams in the league have won more than half their games in regulation. Boston with 70gp 47rw and Edmonton going 72/37. Then the Leafs the only team at even 70/35.
I’d have guessed the number of teams winning 50% of their games in regulation would be higher. Especially in a multi team tank year.

You do realize that Matthews hit 60 goals in the same number of games as McDavid last season right? And Matthews scored way more at 5v5. Matthews career goals per game is also higher.
And how do they compare this year? Hint: Zach-Aston Reese and his 7 goals are closer to Matthews than Matthews is to McDavid.

What's your point? Players have down years and Matthews has said himself he's been playing injured. People thought Ovechkin was cooked at the same age and then he rattled off another 7 Rocket trophies, and 8 seasons of 40+ goals.

Nobody has a higher goals per game than Matthews since he entered the league and in total goals only Ovechkin has scored more and the gap is small while Matthews has missed way more games.

If this keeps up for multiple seasons then obviously he'll have taken a step back, but that's not the case yet so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not saying he's cooked, could be a just a down year (injury and/or whatever else), it's irrelevant to the discussion though - at this moment the best goal scorer in hockey is unequivocally McDavid.

Could Matthews come back next year and take that mantle back? Of course, he was the best goal scorer in the game from the moment he stepped on the ice through to last season. But with McDavid taking things up a couple notches that's going to be easier said than done.

From all that has been said, this year McDavid decided he'd score more goals.

It was a choice.

Maybe Matthews could decide to set-up more goals and get more assists?
