Every time I think the HF collective can't get any stupider they find a way to truly surprise me. I'll be bookmarking this one for when Matthews is healthy and returns to form.
It's the perfectly cultivated environment for morons to thrive. Saying the dumbest things to get attention is encouraged, and calling stupidity out ends up with an infraction

Might Tampa Bay Lightings are anything but

I hope this kills any of their confidence going into playoffs

We aren’t catching Boston so I hope they beat Edmonton so we don’t yet again have to hear how awesome Connor McDavid is. We know he is awesome - Edmonton better pray their coin flip game is solid because he’s 50:50 to stay.

Dallas drops a dime on Buffalo - I still don’t think the Sabres are there yet but they’re trending up.

OFC Tampa manages at least a point but you know what? Leafs got no one to blame but themselves, losing to Vancouver and Edmonton on the road trip. EDIT: VEGAS WINS!

And the Canes - the only truly scary Metropolitan team - squeeze out a 1-0 win over the low Flyers.

Tons of action tonight.

Was kind of worried Tampa rallying from down 3-1 to force OT after that line brawl would spark some momentum, but thankfully VGK kicked them back down in OT.

Dallas scored 10.
Islanders winning in OT, which is great, as Sorokin can steal a series against anyone including Bruins.
Oilers winning is a surprise
TB losing is expected.

Weird that the Bruins started Swayman twice against the Oilers. Thought Ullmark would've gotten the home game where he's been unbeatable

It’s funny obsessing over McCann’s incredibly vanilla game when Hyman only cost 500k more to keep. If we were going to spend 5+ mil on that type of winger, you’d think people would obsess about the homegrown one putting up a ridiculous season instead of the guy getting his Ponikarovski/Antropov points on a team that doesn’t have any big name scorers to compete with.

The reasons for each being lost were significantly different though. Hyman priced himself out with his contract demands (though the Leafs could’ve finagled a way to keep him had they traded say Kerfoot and his $3.5 million) and since the Leafs spending big on elite forwards was the reason for the lack of cap room it’s easier to square that loss away.

McCann meanwhile, was specifically acquired so the Leafs could protect a defenseman many on here consider to be a liability. Regardless of what the numbers say Holl’s mistakes are untimely and costly, and his place on the team likely means a younger and better defenseman will sit in the press box because he has the total faith of the coach.

Also Hyman scoring a bunch on a team led by McDavid is a lot less impressive than what McCann is doing on a less potent Seattle offence.
